Baoism, Shanghai
At Baoism it's all about the perfect bao and although the principle is the same, it really cannot be compared to the bapao as you know it from the supermarket freezer section. Under the heading 'modern Chinese street food', the steamed dough balls are served here with three fillings: Korean chicken, Hongshao pork and tofu. The chicken is a favorite, but the other two are also definitely worth a try, just like the sides – we call it divine noodles, crispy lotus chips or marinated eggplant – that you select on an order form together with your baos. You don't do extensive dining here, the high tables with wooden stools are not made for that either, but if you are looking for an above-average tasty, healthy and quick meal that is well worth the money, you are in the right place. you've come to the right place at Baoism. And no matter how minimalist the interior, it deserves a few style points. You can find Baoism in the basement of the brand new Hubindao department store in Xintiandi. Baoism
