Bar Rosie Utrecht: sexy dining at Lucasbolwerk

Dark. Full. A good glass of wine in your hand and really no reason to go anywhere else. Bar Rosie Utrecht on Lucasbolwerk is exactly the kind of place where a weekday evening makes you forget that you have to show up for work the next day. As soon as you step inside, you understand why the restobar is packed night after night. Candlelight on the table, music from the record player and good vibes with the service.

Bar Rosie strikes just the right balance: stylish without losing character. A place where a first date works just as well as an evening with friends you see far too infrequently. The menu features creative dishes by Jac Rijks with an international-French signature. Think, for example, of shrimp croquettes, a French Dip, and grilled little gem lettuce with plenty of cheese. Everything is meant to be shared, so be sure to let the chef surprise you.

And then there's the wine. Perhaps the real reason why we haven't gone home yet. The menu is full of natural wines, beautiful large glasses, and bubbles that keep refilling your glass. Fortunately, there is a team walking around that knows exactly what to choose, even if you have no idea what you're in the mood for.

Good to know: reserve is usually not an unnecessary luxury. The chance of getting a spontaneous table is small. No more room? Diagonally across the street sits PJAY, the more informal sister of Bar Rosie, for wine, charcuterie, and cheese without a reservation.

Bar Rosie is one of our favorites. Good food. Good wine. Good music. Sometimes that's all you need. This is where you want to go.
