Because eating out at Christmas is always extra fun (and can be a bit less stressful), we have put together a Tasty List for you with restaurants that are open in Amsterdam. Ha! Jansz. in the charming Nine Streets, for example (and they're open on NYE too!), or enjoy tapas under a magical ceiling of lights at Barça... Or the beautiful restaurant Tannay, owned by the Carron family? A truly un-Amsterdam outing. Just to name a few. But there's more...

The Low Threshold Restaurants – don't sit around and be beautiful, but enjoy delicious food!
Around the Christmas period is Barça Amsterdam It's simply a place you simply must see. Thousands of Christmas ornaments hang from the ceiling, transforming the restaurant into a festive, almost magical setting. It's the perfect spot for an evening filled with tapas, wine, and conviviality. The warm atmosphere, the Spanish energy, and the cozy lights make every evening at Barça A small Christmas celebration in itself. One thing is certain: here you'll experience Christmas as it was meant to be.
There is a festive menu and an a la carte menu. And the latter sounds errug good! On the menu as a starter you will find: pan con tomate (bread with tomato) and olives, or Spanish Croquetas with Iberico ham or octopus with fried banana and mojo verde. For the main course, you can choose from white monkfish with prawn tempura, grilled red cabbage with hazelnuts, or glazed lamb. Of course, the patatas bravas of the party and for dessert you can, for example, go for a brownie tiramisu.
Café Restaurant Amsterdam is truly the family classic of classics. And of course Christmas is about family. We have been fans of this restaurant for years, so be quick to make your reservations, because they will be full before you know it! Café Restaurant is the place that is always festive. A member of the 3WO family: Le French CaféYou can also join us here on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Le French Café is a French-inspired and contemporary brasserie, with a funky urban vibe. vibe on the always lively Javastraat, and now also on the Admiraal de Ruijterweg in West. The fresh breads beckon you inside, and in no time the table is full of French classics: artichoke from the market, classic beef tartare, bouillabaisse, fresh changing fish and a prime ribThe wine list is diverse in quality and price. For those who prefer a more subdued and festive Christmas, The Lobby at Hotel V Fizeaustraat is a must-see. The Palm's Private Dining Room offers a wintery group menu featuring classics like venison, scallop, and black truffle. It also features a substantial wine selection from the award-winning wine list (with a Best of Excellence Award from Wine Spectator). It's another delightful spot to end the year. Host and owner Hans provides a flamboyant touch and completes the party with his wine knowledge and enthusiasm. Whether you come as a couple or with family or friends, you will celebrate Christmas in style here. Cheers, or as Hans would say: Goi-ga!

At Fishing In Amsterdam, it's all about fish, but with a touch of theatrics. You choose your own dishes at the fish market, then enjoy a treat at the wine market, and leave the rest to the atmosphere (which is always good, I promise).
Pesca will be open for dinner on December 24th, 25th, and 26th for Christmas, and for lunch on the 25th and 26th as well. During the Christmas lunch, Pesca-style, of course, you'll enjoy a four-course menu including oysters and a glass of cava on the house. Our tip: go for the hamachi and monkfish. And an extra oyster? No one can resist that.
In the evening you can also go there: the Christmas dinner is just as festive (perhaps even more festive), with four courses again and of course a visit to the fish and wine market first.
The former city farm is one of our favorites in Amsterdam-Oost. So we are very happy that we can go here for the holidays. When? On Christmas Day they celebrate with their family. We understand that very well. But… on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day we are welcome for a festive 5-course dinner. Oh, and if you feel like spending a night away from home during Christmas. You can also sleep here! And… the beds are divine.
This year, Restaurant Nela is offering a festive Christmas Menu, served from Christmas Eve through Boxing Day. Start with refined dishes like zucchini carpaccio with feta and wagyu tartare, followed by slow-cooked osso buco in white-wine jus and a roasted ribeye with chestnut glaze. vegetable-forward For foodies, there's plenty to choose from, including celeriac lasagna with porcini and Délice de Bourgogne, and a whole artichoke with creamy hollandaise. The evening concludes with the Chef's Dessert Selection. For a lasting memory, the Nela photo booth is ready.
Throughout Christmas, from 7:00 PM, NENI serves the Balagan Christmas Menu, four rounds of shared dining for €75 per person. No double shifts, no rush; you simply linger as long as you like (as Christmas should be). Book in October or November and you'll also receive an early bird discount.
And then: Second Christmas Day. Starting at 11:30 AM, it's all about the NENI-style Christmas Brunch. Imagine three rounds of festive brunch dishes to share, for €48 per person, including a NENI (hangover) mimosa to kick off the day.
Fancy a festive dinner that's a little bit different? Then you've come to the right place Renvy Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht is the perfect place to be. Here, you'll enjoy a Festive Menu that delivers exactly what Renvy does best: luxurious, laid-back, and above all, delicious. Michelin-starred chef Randy Karman guides you through five courses that build beautifully: starting with kingfish with a wasabi kick, moving on to scallop and turbot, then venison with a surprising hint of Dutch licorice, and finishing with a chocolate dessert with a subtle exotic touch. The menu is served from December 24th to 27th, costs €135 per person (wine pairing optional), and yes, there's also a vegetarian version.
The Entertainment Restaurants – for when you want more than just a table
Step aboard The Last Night at Sea, Aboard the Chin Chin Love Boat, the newest Dinnershow that has Amsterdam in its grip. An evening full of food, music, performances, and unexpected twists, ending, as it should, on the dance floor.
Starting in December, the Love Boat continues its festive journey: a Christmas edition filled with sparkle, golden lights, and the warm atmosphere of the season. For €25 per person, you can enjoy all the live entertainment during dinner and get access to the club. The show is incredibly popular, so if you're thinking, "I have to be there," make sure you reserve your spot soon!
The Intimate Private Dinner Restaurants – not for eavesdroppers
Is there anything better than a cozy room full of just your favorite people at Christmas? No, we hear you say, that's why we eat at home for Christmas. Okay, okay, but what if you could also enjoy a delicious meal, have your every need met, and not have to deal with the dishes (and mess) the next day? Ha! Well, that's possible. One of the best options in Amsterdam is, of course, the classic of all classics: the Amstel Hotel. The true 'Grande Dame' of Amsterdam. We all know her prestigious five-star hotel with a rich history to hospitality since 1867 and location the picturesque Amstel. But did you also know that the Amstel has 522 square meters of event space, divided over six beautiful rooms and a private dining room, all with a panoramic view of the river. The Special Occasion Restaurants – because it is Christmas
Celebrating Christmas at the Rijksmuseum? It's possible. RIJKS® The Rijksmuseum makes Christmas extra special. They're open on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day, and serve a menu you won't want to miss, featuring culinary delights.
For lunch, you can choose from a 4-course (€105), 5-course (€130), or 6-course (€155) menu, but for dinner, it's all about the full 6-course menu (€155). They serve seasonal dishes from the Netherlands. While it's a bit pricey, it's definitely worth a visit, if not just for the location.
Did someone say party? Then someone probably also mentioned Hotel Okura Amsterdam. It's always a treat to be there, and they really go all out for the holidays. There are also the in-house restaurants – Yamazato (one Michelin star), Teppanyaki Restaurant Sazanka en Serre – have opened their doors with special Christmas dinner menus.
And as if that wasn't enough fun, they're hosting a festive family Christmas brunch on December 25th. There's even a Kids Corner for the little ones, packed with fun activities.
Belly full? Then of course you would prefer to stay the night to make the experience complete.
You can choose from two packages for your overnight stay, choose from Sleigh All The Way of Merry & Bright, where a magical Christmas stay is guaranteed, as the room is included, personal butler service, €250 food & beverage credit (although you will have to pay extra for that in the in-house restaurants are not very popular), treatments in their spa with babysitting service (if you have kids with you), even a bottle of Veuve Clicquot and to make it even more festive an Elf turndown service with milk and cookies!
From March 2023 on the banks of the IJmeer in Durgerdam (so you can sit wonderfully among the reed plumes and gable houses on the water). boutique hotel. A boutique hotel? A very beautiful and soothing indeed The Durgerdam is the name. The location went from inn to hotel to café-restaurant and back to hotel again. Enjoy peace and quiet at De Durgerdam, with its culinary centerpiece restaurant De Mark.
Is it good to eat there? Hell yes! Head Chef Koen Marees works there with Amsterdam heroes Richard van Oostenbrugge and Thomas Groot from Michelin restaurants Bistro de la Mer and De Juwelier. You can go there 7 days a week, and so – duh – ALSO at Christmas.
Both The jeweler as Bistro de la Mer are also open during Christmas. These establishments have the same owners and are located on the Utrechtsestraat. At The jeweler you can enjoy a 24-course Christmas menu on December 25 and 5. At Bistro de la Mer you can enjoy delicious food from the menu all Christmas long.
Celebrating Christmas in Amsterdam? This year you can also do that at Restaurant VanOost during Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day with their special 'Best of the Bestmenu, filled with favorites from chef Floris van Straalen and his team. For lunch, you can enjoy a 5-course menu (€159), and for dinner, there's a 6-course menu (€195). Upon arrival, you'll receive an aperitif, and water, coffee, and tea are, of course, included.
Please note: Dinner on December 25th is unfortunately already sold out, so be quick for the other dates. We've also thought of the kids, with a 3-course light menu (€70) for those 12 and under, including soft drinks. A little bit luxurious, a little festive, and above all, cozy.
The Always Good Restaurants – we come here often, so why not at Christmas too?
You can also celebrate Christmas at Neuf this year, as the atmosphere is also great. On December 24th, 25th, and 26th, join us for lunch or dinner and tuck into a culinary festive menu that will leave you wanting more: from smoked salmon and rabbit ravioli to venison loin with red cabbage and parsnip.
Finish with something sweet (and a glass of wine, of course). And speaking of wines: there are forty available, all by the glass. Reservations are easy through the website, with a €25 deposit. Four, five, or six courses—you decide.
Did someone say 'all day Christmas menu'? Yes! At Cecconi's you can join us this Christmas on December 24th and both Christmas days, all day long for a special Christmas menu with a choice of their classics and Christmas specials. The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, so what are you waiting for?! Have you made other plans yet, no worries, on New Year's Eve you can also go to Cecconi's. This time for a special 'New Years Eve Menu', with tagliolini with white truffle - call us.
Christmas at Gitane means three days of feasting on your plate. On December 24th, 25th, and 26th, they'll be serving a delicious 5- or 6-course menu that will make your glittery dress or Christmas sweater fit a little tighter. And this year, they've also rolled out a new cocktail and wine list. Seasonal cocktails perfectly match the Christmas spirit, plenty of new wines (also by the glass!), and around sixty top wines on the menu. Perfect to kick off the menu, or just to get into the festive spirit.
For the 5-course menu, you pay €65 for both lunch and dinner, and for the 6-course menu (dinner only), you pay €75. For that extra ten euros, we would know what to do. Make sure you book quickly, because Gitane fills up quickly.
This is our personal favorite on the Prinsengracht, and luckily they're open on both Christmas Days (except Christmas Eve!). The chef has created a special Christmas menu, including a delicious 3-course (€55) and 4-course (€65) dinner.
Our new favorite in the east is Troef. And oh, we are so happy that they are open all Christmas. Just around the corner from the Amstel you will find this French place. The people at Troef have given their à la carte menu a festive touch.
We are fans of restaurant Slipway 7 in Amsterdam North. Rugged location, fantastic food, unparalleled view. And then you have us. Let the restaurant also be open at Christmas. Ha! On December 24, 25 and 26 join us for a 4 or 5 course meal. All you need to do is make a reservation.x
Also in North, also a tip: restaurant Metro. You can go there all 24 and 25 December for both lunch and dinner. That other favorite in Noord, Europizza, may be closed on Christmas Day, but they will be there on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day! And last but not least, there is also a Glaze, open on Christmas Day and Boxing Day with a special 5-course menu.
Brasserie Café Spring At Pillows Maurits at the Park, Spring is a must-visit for the whole family. During the holidays, you can bake cookies, get your face painted, and have your family photo taken (in a cheesy Christmas sweater, of course!). Then, enjoy a delicious Italian-style lunch or dinner, and the kids can enjoy a festive children's menu. Among the twinkling lights, of course.
If you really want to go all out for Christmas (without doing anything yourself), you can of course spend an overnight stay in one of the rooms at Maurits at the Park.
Jansz, that nice place that is part of the wonderful Pulitzer hotel, is open on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. And (if you haven't had enough yet) also on New Year's Eve! We always like to wear something festive for Jansz. At Jansz they go all out with the Holidays. This way you can choose from one for lunch or dinner three-course or four-course menu. Prices start from 120 euros and you will immediately receive a glass of bubbles upon arrival.
Tanay, which previously went by the name 'De Gouden Reael', is a family member of the French Bistro Caron. Chef Thomas Demuth cooks from his experiences gained from his mother's kitchen in Burgundy and from his periods in other top restaurants in Paris and here in Amsterdam. Restaurant Tannay is open on December 24 and 26 and there is something for everyone, so let's spoil those taste buds.

Cantine de Caron of course we can't stay behind at Christmas because luckily they are also open. This is a place we tell you, one all-time favorite! So book a spot quickly!
Japanese cuisine, but with a South American twist. You will find that at IZAKAYA. And of course we prefer to fly to Japan or South America to spend Christmas there, but with... Christmas IZAKAYA's menu on December 24, 25, and 26 will get you pretty close. Here, the holidays are all about refinement and vibrant energy with a Festive Cocktail menu and the IZAKAYA signature dishes.
Authentic flavours and Italian cosiness: that's what you can taste this Christmas at Restaurant TOZISpecially for the holidays, the TOZI team has created a festive set menu for €97 per person on December 24th and 25th. Enjoy sea bream carpaccio and braised beef ravioli with Parmigiano Reggiano and red wine jus. Panettone to finish it off. Naturally, you can pair it with the finest wines. Cheers!

Ron Gastrobar is open every Christmas day, from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day. This restaurant is located on Sophialaan in Amsterdam Zuid, a five-minute walk from Vondelpark. And we would love to have a bite to eat there every night. Super nice restaurant, completely in the Christmas spirit (really!). The menu includes everything from oysters as a starter to meringue for dessert.
A star on the Christmas tree and a Michelin star on your plate. That's certainly a given at Restaurant Daalder. We believe everyone deserves a bit of a fancy dinner out during the holidays, so we're thrilled (doing a happy dance) that Daalder is keeping its doors open for Christmas, except for Boxing Day, when they'll be celebrating in person. Here you'll enjoy a carefully curated chef's menu, led by Dennis Huwaë.
Christmas Eve at Toscanini means a true Italian feast. On December 24th, Toscanini will be serving both lunch and dinner, both featuring a 6-course menu filled with Italian classics and paired with a wine pairing. Good to know: there will be no regular à la carte menu on this day. The menu costs €95, and yes, a vegetarian option is available. The team will be enjoying the holidays for the rest of Christmas Day, up until January 4th, but the 24th is the place to be! Lunch reservations can be made between 12:00 and 13:00, and dinner between 19:00 and 20:00. So, want to be there? Make sure you arrive early, because Toscanini is also a popular spot. That extra touch of chic is often found in hotel restaurants during the holidays. Everything is beautifully decorated, and you're often completely pampered by the staff, perfect for spending one (or both) of your Christmas days. And another top tip: these hotels usually offer a fantastic breakfast or brunch during the holidays! Below are a few hotels whose restaurants will be wide open this coming Christmas.
The beautiful Hotel de l'Europe on the Amstel has no fewer than three restaurants where we can go during the Christmas holidays. Join us Marie for a Noël Français. Here you can drink the tastiest French wines while slurping down an oyster and tasting French cuisine. Bee Flora you eat the vegetables of the moment. No boring plates at Flore, but Michelin-worthy (yes, they have two) dishes. And finally, the doors are of Trattoria Grazielle open for a Christmas dinner (or lunch) full of Italian dishes. Enjoy antipasti to share or a plate of pasta with Italian wine. These three restaurants have their own Christmas menu, so this will follow stay tuned…

On December 24, 25 and 26 you can go to OCCO for a fully catered, pampered Christmas. You can sit here for a festive High Wine including an aperitif and amuse. We won't reveal more, but your glittery dress should definitely be pulled out of the closet. Christmas on the Keizersgracht, we want it.

The Conservatorium Hotel is in the Christmas spirit, a handsome non-Christmas lover who won't even give in to that. With Christmas decorations throughout the hotel and a huge (!) Christmas tree in the lobby. The Brasserie and Taiko are going all out again this year with special menus. At the Brasserie, you can enjoy a four-course meal including Zeeland hamachi, lobster broth, and pistachio-crusted venison fillet (€135 per person, wine pairing from €55). At Taiko, it's Asian elegance with an eight-course menu full of scallops, black cod, A5 wagyu, and caviar-like delights (€185 per person).

A Californian-style Christmas together with the whole family? You do that Celia in the center of Amsterdam. There are Christmas crackers on the table, the whole place is decorated and they even have menus with your own name on it (feels quite fancy). Celia serves a 3 or 4 course menu with dishes such as burrata with truffle and mushrooms as a starter, short ribs with parsnip puree and spiced carrots as a main course, and to finish the evening sticky toffe pudding. For 60,- or €69 euro per person it won't break the bank and of course they have a good vegetarian menu, yes please!
You can also join us for brunch! On December 24, 25 and 26 you have next dishes like the well-known cinnamon buns with a tonka bean glaze Eggs Royal with smoked salmon and poached egg.
Also with The Duchess and the younger brother MR PORTER you can join us at Christmas. At the fine dining steakhouse MR PORTER On December 24th, 25th, and 26th, the menu features classic dishes, as well as a well-curated menu of gastronomic delights. You'll be literally and figuratively elevated to a higher level here this Christmas. Another highlight: the famous Sunday Roast Feast, which takes on a magical core theme this festive season. A table overflowing with delicacies. Christmas at its finest.
