Sleeping by the sea: wonderful holiday addresses on the Dutch coast

Rain or shine: the most beautiful places to stay pop up, right on our very own North Sea. Ha! We spotted plenty of them, oldies, and of course newcomers. There is a good chance that this list will expand more and more in the coming months bookmark Just let me know in advance.

We are talking coastal accommodations here, not necessarily beach houses. We have a whole other (laundry) list for that. You can read that here.

Venti Beach Houses, Zandvoort

Venti Beach Houses, Zandvoort

Sleeping on the beach? Yes, please. The Venti Beach Houses are located right next to Venti's delightful Beach Club, on the beach in Zandvoort. You wake up to the sound of the waves, slide open the doors to your own veranda, and are standing with your feet in the sand drinking your morning coffee in no time. Beach holiday feeling to the max.

The cottages are fully equipped with every convenience, featuring a bedroom, a mezzanine with an extra double bed, a bathroom, and a kitchen (with a dishwasher and Nespresso machine). And it all looks beautiful too. Don't feel like cooking yourself? Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks from the Beach Club can simply be delivered to your cottage (yes!).

Dutchen

Dutchen

If we could name anyone the winner of a 'nicest seaside holiday spots' contest, it would be the people behind Dutchen. And every time they come up with something new, we are there in a flash.

What beautiful things do they have on the coast? The people at Dutchen have no fewer than four holiday parks in Schoorl: Mooi Schoorl, Buiten Bergen, Duynvoet, and Weideduyn. They are also doing very well on the Wadden Islands, with Waddenduyn on Texel and the new Elements on Terschelling. You stay in beautiful holiday homes, apartments, or hotel rooms, right in the middle of nature and never far from the beach. From now on, just give us a generous helping of Dutchen whenever we head to the coast.

Sea view, Petten

Sea view, Petten

To mention beach 'houses' after all, even though – let's be fair – they are quite full-fledged houses on the beach, specifically on the North Holland coast, on the beach of Petten aan Zee. This is where Landal Zeezigt opened. Fifty beach houses with the North Sea as their front yard. Waking up to the sound of the waves, watching the sun set into the sea in the evening – just what the doctor ordered. The cottages exude Scandinavia: large windows, light tones, natural materials. Just right. They are also nicely positioned diagonally so that you never really look into the neighbors' (or they into yours) – very clever and beautifully done. There are cozy 2-person cottages *with* outdoor space. kitchen and an outdoor shower, as well as more spacious variants for up to 4 people. You can even book the latter including a Big Green Egg on your terrace. Bringing your dog? That's a good idea too, as there are special dog-friendly cottages. The neighborhood is lovely as well: walk along the beach to the Palendorp of Petten (photogenic and with a great story), while active types can go kitesurfing, horseback riding on the beach, or paddleboarding at the Camperduin Lagoon. Schoorl (that climbing dune!), Bergen, Callantsoog, and Alkmaar are within cycling distance and are all equally enjoyable. If you prefer not to roll more than three times: we spent the entire weekend wonderfully at beach pavilion Zee en Zo and in our own cottage, and that was perfect. Strandpaviljoen Hargen, a little further away, is also a great tip. Please note: the cottages can be booked from April to October.

Etoile31, Egmond aan Zee

Etoile31, Egmond aan Zee

Within a minute you will be standing with your feet in the sand, quite a plus Star31, we find. So you can camp on the beach all day to your heart's content, have a snack at home, go for a swim or make a sand castle and the like. So nice to have all that outside, all those activities and cozy restaurants on your doorstep to have. Egmond aan Zee in itself is also a nice place, actually all year round. Whether you're looking for good restaurants, outdoor activities like boating or hiking, or something more sedate like digging holes and exploring the local culture, there's something for everyone.

The apartment features many white and sand tones, with terracotta-red tiles and details. Nothing screams; everything whispers sweetly in your ear. Sounds very sweet, but it really isn't. Just beautiful, just good.

Ory by the sea

It is in Egmond all year 'round nice place to stay. Then treat yourself to a wonderful stay at Ory aan ZeeThen you don't want to go home at all. The beach is literally within walking distance, for that ultimate get-away feeling. We classify the accommodations at Ory aan Zee as 'unique finds in our own country'. Bilderberg Europa Hotel

Bilderberg Europa Hotel

For the people who still have the old Achenebbisj Scheveningen in their heads, that is all in the past. Nowadays you can sleep like a princess Bilderberg Europa Hotel. Or prince of course. And as a prince, you literally and figuratively sleep on the beach here. You can reach the beach in no fewer than 198 steps. Wonderful, right? There are different room types, you can go for a king size bed but also family rooms, and also choose from the sea view option. Nice, one build-your-own-room concept.

And now, about the breakfast buffet. There's nothing better than rolling out of your princely bed and sitting down to a breakfast buffet, right? Pure indulgence.

Beach hotel Cadzand

Beach hotel Cadzand

We recently stayed at the Strandhotel in Cadzand-Bad, Zeeland, and truth be told: within 5 minutes, we were completely smitten with the hotel and the location. Because, yes, for a luxurious stay on the coast in the Netherlands… you quickly think of Scheveningen, perhaps Domburg. Not Cadzand-Bad. Wrong! For with the imposing coastal houses, the wide beach, the marina, and the fantastic hospitality, it is one of the most beautiful and coziest places in our country. Moreover, the Strandhotel offers the best of both worlds: feet in the sand during the day, no worries. In the evening, it is finally time to put on a beautiful evening dress and a cool blazer again and take the time to pamper yourself, as they say so chicly. Unwind and disconnect versus top of the bill eating out. That is the Strandhotel Cadzand Bad.

Chalet de Kleine Walvis, Terschelling

Chalet de Kleine Walvis, Terschelling

First read this list: the best of Terschelling. Yes? Nice? We thought so! And it gets even more fun because we recently came across Chalet de Kleine Walvis, a lovely chalet in the green in the middle of the Wadden Island. Everything is in perfect order, from the kitchen equipped from A to Z to the sunny terrace. With a fireplace and barbecue, of course.

VILLA DE DUNEN IN NOORDWIJK

VILLA DE DUNEN IN NOORDWIJK

We have often raved about the super nice beach bars that Noordwijk has to offer, such as: Tulum en Nomade Beach House. But now it's really time for something different. What could be nicer than a historic spot where you can enjoy a delicious meal and also spend the night? Nothing. Gosh, and the name well... Villa de Duinen (in Noordwijk) already gives it away: in the oh-so-beautiful Noordwijk the real adults only in the middle of the dunes of Noordwijk. Big shocker! Villa de Duinen, here we come.

7Huizen aan Zee, Zeeland

7Huizen aan Zee, Zeeland

7Houses by the Sea is part campsite, part landlord of holiday homes and lodges and is always located by the sea. In Looperskapelle in Zeeland to be precise, a hamlet on the edge of Scharendijke, close to the beautiful North Sea beach, the Brouwersdam and the Grevelingenmeer. What more could a person want?

We know! A charming cottage, a small-scale character, various accommodations with loving care, and—especially fun for the little ones—a family-run agricultural business as a base. That's all check, check, double-check at 7Huizen aan Zee.

The Glory of Noordwelle

The Glory of Noordwelle

Yes, to be perfectly honest, we also thought we were dealing with an address in South Africa, but oh no. Although De Heerlijkheid van Noordwelle reminds us so much of Blackheath Lodge in Cape Town, it really is a delightful and quite unique place to stay right here in our own beautiful Zeeland. Swimming pool we fleek, a picture-perfect classic living room, an exceptional breakfast, and the beach within cycling distance. Zeeland, you say? But yes indeed. Noordwelle to be precise, an attractive little town next to the much better-known Renesse (a 16-year-old's summer hangout). yours truly). There are 5 rooms, each with a private bathroom. Please note: this accommodation is adults only.

George's Lodges Renesse

George's Lodges Renesse

Nothing beats the good lodge, there is little like our own coastline and we LOVE a pink bathroom. Let it all be in perfect order at this Zeeland pearl: George's Lodges Renesse. The Zeeland lodge is named after the owners' Burgundian grandfather, which immediately reflects how the two-bedroom holiday home is designed: for drinks, dining, relaxing and a carefree holiday.

Suite-Suite Zandvoort

Suite-Suite Zandvoort

For a while now, we have been following the delightful sand-colored Instagram account of Suite-Suite in Zandvoort, a seaside B&B, with mouthwatering anticipation. Just staring at the account calms us down; imagine how wonderful it is to sink into the beige sofas and lounge in the rattan chairs for a long weekend or a midweek break.

Hotel Paradis Zandvoort

Hotel Paradis Zandvoort

Okay, the last one in Zandvoort, but you really shouldn't miss this beautiful and fairly new hotel either: Hotel Paradis is the name, a boutique hotel just outside the center of Zandvoort aan Zee. In terms of looks, the hotel is very hip and trendy beach corner, the rooms are spacious and the beach is less than 300 meters away. Just what the doctor ordered of course, although you don't necessarily have to leave the hotel: the terrace is beautiful and nice.

Beach hotel Zoomers, Castricum

Beach hotel Zoomers, Castricum

There may have been some disagreement about the name, but anyone who has seen these two titles pass by should know above all that we are talking about one and the same brand-new hotel on the North Holland coast. You need to be in the dunes of Castricum, where the country's most handsome coastal hotel is undoubtedly located. The entire place was furnished from A to Z by the creative and ridiculously tasteful guys behind HKliving. You get the picture. The place is run by the folks from restaurant Zoomers, who, with two branches of their content, know exactly how to do it: welcome guests, pamper them, and ensure that everyone walks out the door satisfied.
