The Havixhorst is surrounded by extensive estates, which provides plenty of activities: Walking until you weigh an ounce in Reestdal, visiting dolmens, cycling and mountain biking in the Staphorsterbos. Bring a filled picnic basket and go with that banana! Would you rather be lazy than tired? Then you can also let a boat do the work! You can be there in half an hour's drive Giethoorn, the Venice of the Netherlands. As a true nature fanatic or bird watcher, there is plenty to see and do. Fun fact: the food at De Havixhorst is prepared with fruit and vegetables from local farms around the De Reest river, which you can of course also visit. Enough surrounding nature to wander, walk and cycle for hours. Would you like to rent a bicycle or bring a bottle of champagne? on the road? De Havixhorst takes care of that, you call them and they run: just like the royals doing it.

Then go shopping or enjoy a terrace in a vibrant area Zwolle and stroll through the beautiful streets of the cozy Meppel, it's all within reach. You can make your trip as crazy as you want, with De Havixhorst as your home base and go on an adventure around it!

The eye wants something too

You don't need hawk eyes to see what a beauty The Havixhorst is! A truly authentic château hotel with graceful iron curling gates, high windows, robust and white decorated pillars that form the entrance to an oasis of greenery. Mother nature has left its mark everywhere, but De Havixhorst has had its own pee on it (or the four-legged friends). They have created a sculpture garden between all the plants, so if you take a stroll in the evening, don't be alarmed. Upon entering you feel the age-old atmosphere; the feeling of the past in a modern and contemporary new jacket.

De master bedrooms have high ceilings, attractive dark tones, soft velvet cushions and crystal chandeliers (no, not for hanging). This style is reflected in the restaurant/lounge, which is furnished in a homely style. A combination of warmth with tightly laid tables and an abundance of candles. Be careful with those candles, because there is also no shortage of enormous plants indoors and one fire basket is enough!

Also a good idea: sit down on the summer terrace for a refined and colorful dinner or lunch. Would you like to choose your own wine? Then move on to the wine cellar, where the walls are full of various types of wine with your name on it. If you prefer to linger, there is a large long table in the middle of the basement that makes room for plenty of fun. Plenty of time to chat and have drinks for hours.

Keffers & Kroost

Enjoy a nice holiday or a weekend away with the whole bunch, that's all possible at De Havixhorst. Everyone is welcome here, including furry four-legged friends for a small cleaning fee (€25). The offspring can also romp around and go out, so a real family trip is certainly possible here. Do they need their own bed? Then there are two types: a children's bed (€25) or a normal bed (€50), no problem: they are happy to help you get a good night's sleep.
