5 x delicious food and drinks in Hoogeveen
Hoogeveen is a place in the south of Drenthe, and there may be days that you don't get there... It's not teeming with hotspots, but for those who look well there are certainly some special and surprising places that are worth visiting. Plus: the area is bursting with beautiful forests and heathland; you can go out on your bike! And then stop every now and then for a cup of good coffee or sit down for a fancy bite.
The kitchen of Arragon
A bit of cycling into the forest and then we find this gem. Without a doubt ours fine dining favorite. The kind of restaurant where you hope the menu is endless, because every course is a feast. Relaxed and hospitable atmosphere, home-baked bread, pairing on point. Check, check – double check. You order a surprise menu here, let it come over you and enjoy. Delicious!
Narlin
Lunch, brunch, dinner, weddings, meetings. Narline is a beautiful, renovated farm where it's all possible. Just outside Hoogeveen, in Zuidwolde. Perfect for cycling and that's why it's on this list. Good idea: in the summer, have an extensive lunch on the garden terrace with all the trimmings. Oh, and really order for dessert: Café Glacé.

The Lazy Gardener
The best place to stroll through the gardens and then chill in the garden café. The gardens are famous in Drenthe and far beyond and rightly so. Also nice: you can buy plants for home (even if you don't have green fingers) and gifts in the garden shop. The Lazy Gardener is open from March to October.
Taste Coffee & More
In an unexpected place, in the middle of the shopping street, we find the most delicious coffee in Hoogeveen. The oat milk is not yet standard, but certainly an option. You can choose from delicious homemade cakes. In the summer a nice big terrace.
Bonus tip: Samosa queen
This is a tip that only applies on Saturdays. Then you will find Samosa Queen at the market. A colorful, small market stall where a very cheerful family makes samosas - Indian pastries. They are really good, and fresh. Veggie, chicken or lamb.
