This ship is located in Rotterdam and now serves as a home port for anyone looking for a nice place to sleep. back in the day it served as the former flagship of the Holland America Line. So whether you are a history and shipping fanatic or are just looking for a slightly different overnight stay, then the ss Rotterdam is for you. A maritime experience and sailor for a day.During a tour you will see all corners of the ship and sail back in a time machine to New York and the Dutch Merchant Navy of the nineteenth century.
You will find themed cabins named after the Bahamas or Manhattan for that real 'I'm-just-on-travel' feeling. So you don't have to go far (because on your own Dutch soil), but you do have the holiday luxury: paddling in the paddling pool on the deck or celebrating your holiday at one of the restaurants, (wine) bars and lounges. The ss Rotterdam is not only an icon in the port of Rotterdam, but also the place with all kinds of entertainment for all ages. From escape rooms, live performances to full theme evenings. Get that sailor suit out of the closet. There is also more than enough space for special occasions (whether you are organizing a business meeting, wedding or a party). A very nice place in an almost even better location. One thing is certain: you will have a good weekend with the SS Rotterdam in the world city of Rotterdam.
Location, location, location
Ss Rotterdam is located on the banks of the Maas and that means you have a full view of the water. The ship is located just outside the busy city center, but by... boarding The Water Taxi platform right next to the ship will get you there within ten minutes. Although there is plenty to do on the ship itself, Rotterdam is of course one must visit.
That's how you find yourself Katendrecht, a neighborhood that has become a hip destination with an abundance of eateries and activities. Now that you're here; then don't miss the Deliplein. Full of fun with all kinds of nice terraces. Are you more of a true art lover or crazy about architecture? Then you have to pass the Erasmus Bridge or Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. Shopping enthusiasts and browsing enthusiasts head to the Pannekoekstraat to browse through boutiques full of clothing and accessories or walk to the Meent for a mix of all well-known brands and unique shops.
The eye wants something too
As soon as you enter the walkway and step onto the ship, you immediately feel the grandeur and liveliness of the past. The SS Rotterdam has her heritage and story well preserved, so that every guest can catch a glimpse of that authentic maritime experience vibe. The skipper's life is evident everywhere, including in the interior: a mix of retro-modern but also very old-school. The fifties style is inspired by the various (exotic) destinations of the ship's glory days. Think of it as a trip down memory lane. The rooms are exactly as a hut should be (keep it simple): a haven for a nap but not necessarily the place to be. However, every accommodation has a view of the port of Rotterdam or the city skyline, so waking up with this view is certainly not a bad thing.
On the deck or in the wheelhouse you have the best point of view, a bit of a Titanic atmosphere with strings of lights. Sit down with a tasty thirst quencher, embrace the harbor life, the sunset and the starry sky. You've (also) come to the right place for your dose of romance.
