Bijdeburen is hidden in, in our humble opinion, the nicest street in Venlo. The Keizerstraat. A medieval winding street where you can without too much effort pretend that you are in an alley somewhere in Southern Europe. Post lights, wooden wine barrels, olive trees; the Mediterranean atmosphere is present in the Keizerstraat. With a capital letter yes. Take a seat on the oh-so-cozy terrace or one of the two small tables in front of the restaurant. It's also great to stay inside: wooden tables & cozy places where you can have a drink for hours with a bottle of wine on the table.

And then the food oh boy. From 11.00 a.m. you can sit here with a cup of coffee, and from the afternoon you can go to Bijdeburen for damn good tapas. No ready-made tapas – which we unfortunately encounter more often in the Netherlands – but culinary tapas with influences from all over the world. What can you think about? Dishes such as carpaccio of scallops with fennel, green tea & passion fruit, smokey polenta fries with padron pepper and chipotle mayonnaise and grilled butterfish with samphire & calvados. Next level tapas, with plenty of vegetarian options. In addition to a fixed menu - which also changes regularly - there are special dishes on the chalkboard, which change weekly. If you can't choose, we understand, go for the chef's menu. Of course, Southern European wines are served, but our favorite drinks? The homemade Tinto de Verano (red wine with lemonade and fresh fruit) & to end the evening the homemade limoncello. Yum.
