Blijburg, Amsterdam
Do you remember Blijburg? The cozy city beach on IJburg, Amsterdam deep in East? The city beach where you had to wait every season to see what it would look like (because, admittedly, one season it was cozier than the other and the first season was never surpassed). Well, Blijburg is getting a permanent spot and it looks like season 1 will be maintained. That permanent spot – with a reclaimed beach – is on the Centrum Eiland of IJburg and since October 23 you can go there for lunch and dinner, at least 12 (!) years from that day, while the opening is in the weekend of November 7 and 8 which is celebrated with a grand Opening Ball. Just like in the old days the new Blijburg consists of two parts: the Chapel on a (private) beach, a separate event location (the undersigned had her bachelor there) and Paviljoen Blijburg itself with its two floors (restaurant, bars, a stage and a terrace with a stunning view). Which amounts to a total of 1300 m2 of catering. Regional products on the menu and the kitchen promises to be good, with a lot of attention for the vegetarians among us. Blijburg
