Bokaal, Rotterdam

Barts Booklet - Bokaal Rotterdam

Fresh news from Rotterdam because today, Thursday October 23, it is almost a week old: Bokaal. And that's a good story, right around the corner from the recently opened Markthal with a lot of fuss (and rightly so, it's an asset). Bokaal is located on a cozy square, hidden yet central and therefore Rotterdam's best terrace spot next summer. But even in the coming winter months it will be warm and cozy inside thanks to the long dark bar, the high tables with leather bar stools, the seats along the high display windows and last but not least the man who cuts the meat at the back of the shop and all the other men in the wait staff who - oh relief - take a nice long time for you (doesn't necessarily improve the speed, but hey! You're either out for an evening or you're not). Even the toilet is social (all taps run at the same time, very social, and through the mirror you look at the neighbors of the opposite sex). Not unimportant: what do you actually eat and drink there? Beer if it's up to the men, but also a good (red) wine and shelves full of cheese and charcuterie (yum!) or for a slightly larger appetite, stew, fries and vegetables, simply, all in a cup. Goblet
