The perfect staycation in Limburg: Brookerhof B&B
Those who leave the hard 'G's' behind and exchange for the softest accent in the country are in Limburg. And we know Limburg from the hills, pies, Maastricht (duh), the white gold and... Marlstone. The ultimate sleeping experience, in Limburg style, is what you can do in a Mergelhoeve. Or actually: you do that Brookerhof. This B&B and holiday loft in one is almost swallowed up by the South Limburg hilly landscape. This farm is everything (and more) you could ask for staycation in Limburg desires. Then we mean the complete picture: pies, Maastricht around the corner and with a bit of luck (and in the right season): asparagus.
Once you arrive – after taking your road trip – the holiday feeling comes to you immediately. Behind the typical red shutters – well known in the region – two handsome holiday rooms are hidden. Starting with the farm where B&B Brie has taken up residence. The cozy downstairs area has a kitchen with refrigerator, nice crockery and delicious coffee (you have to make it first, but it is there) and a spacious bathroom. You reach the bedroom/sitting room via the wooden stairs. In addition to a double bed, there is a sofa bed in the room, suitable for an extra adult or two kids. You can easily spend the night here as a group of three or four. Everything smells of 'the old days' from vintage accessories (not literally, everything smells of flowers), to industrial and natural materials and all with a fresh modern twist (look, the flowers).
Next to the farm there is a holiday loft in the former cowshed Cowshed created. What's in a name. Upon entering you immediately step into the kitchen. If you push open the sliding door, the living with again (this is also the case at B&B Brie) natural tones and wooden details. Egyptian front doors a change of spice and those typical 'peasant' accessories create a Mediterranean look farmhouse realm. You sleep on the sleeping loft: a full-fledged floor with a balcony, where a group of three adults or a family with two children can stay.
The people of Brookerhof provide a delicious breakfast – served in a picnic basket, delivered to your door – with fresh fruit, juice, rolls, yoghurt and homemade jam. When the sun shines, you can have breakfast in the cozy courtyard or take the picnic basket into the meadow. What you like and enjoy. In the latter you will find a vegetable garden, nice lounge sofas on the terrace, a swing and climbing rope near the cherry tree and two house alpacas. The kids have plenty of space to romp (a nice plus: this can be done safely, because there is a fence), while you enjoy the peace and quiet without any worries.
