In Maastricht In 2016, it opened one of the first – and has since been voted the best – budget boutique hotel in the Netherlands by various parties, the Kaboom Hotel. You actually pay the price for a two-star hotel here, but you experience a - roughly - five-star feeling. Each room has a rain shower, a king-size bed and has been stylishly renovated by an interior designer Roger Haan. In the design he has incorporated the historic location of the hotel in a special and contemporary way (because that is what it is, a beautiful historic building), such as the striking wallpaper in the Kaboom Hotel which tells the story of the city of Maastricht. We make no secret of the fact that you can wake us up for a spontaneous city trip, but it is only really relaxing when we are far away from everything. And that's you De Gaard estate. Ok, Roermond is around the corner and our dearest Maastricht is a 45-minute drive away, but you mainly come here to enjoy nothing. And for a good portion of fresh air. Buitengoed de Gaard consists of a stylish old farmhouse, where hostess Anja lives with her family. Together with her husband Bas, she does everything she can to fully pamper the guests. A personal card, fresh pie on arrival and the children can help feed the cuddly goats. We think it's sweet. At the edge of the meadow there are a number of gypsy wagons where you can spend the night in a box bed. Sounds cozy, it is. And yet: we always get the creeps from these huts on wheels, but that is also because of the name. Call us spoiled, but we only like these types of cars on the Parade, so we'll skip that one. Fun Valley, that sounds terrible for anyone over 15, but make no mistake: it is really fun. Fun valley Maastricht, just outside Maastricht, is a (kind of) city beach with a very nice beach bar where you can sit outside perfectly (and spaciously) on nice days. Feet in the sand, your nose towards the water (and in the sun). You'll be there for a while. That's a good thing: the little ones can have fun on the large play racks, bouncy castles and more, depending on the event that is being set up at that moment. There is always something to do at Fun Valley and that is more fun (and more attractive) than you thought. Ha!

Parc Buitenzaam is located in the middle of greenery. The perfect setting for the ideal week of camping in your own country, if you ask us. At this beautiful place in North Limburg you can choose camping plus in one of the luxurious glamping tents or book a nature house with its own bathroom and heater. It doesn't get any cozier.

Those seeking peace and quiet can indulge themselves in North Limburg, near the German border. There, close to Venlo and Arcen, is The Fruit Shed, a name that leaves little to the imagination: the old fruit storage shed next to the house (be sure to peek around the door into the family's kitchen; it's crazy) of a (North Holland, shjjtt) couple was converted into a light Bed and Breakfast in the middle of the green, with its own kitchen and private garden, adjacent to the fields where the family's horses (and dog) walk. You sleep there - cozy - on a loft, which you reach via the authentic stairs of the fruit barn (note: the wood stove ensures that it gets very hot in the ridge. Cozy indeed, but the blower there is not an unnecessary luxury, even not in winter) which you only dive into after a long walk through the most beautiful of Limburg.

Traveling with four? No problem: you can easily transform the sofa in the living room into a second sleeping place. In the afternoon the fire pit at the old pear tree, a great place to sit down for a drink after a visit to the thermal springs of Arcen. The extensive and delicious breakfast menu naturally includes eggs as it pleases you and only organic products from the region.
