Although Brooklyn and the East Village are favorites these days, I certainly wouldn't spit on a night's sleep in SoHo (South of Houston Street), which is still the 'center' of the city in terms of shopping. that isThere, in the middle of Broome Street (one of the best streets) a couple of seasoned hoteliers opened the Broome Hotel, a thoroughbred 'French' hotel as only the Americans can. Over the top, but it ne sais quoi they achieved with the casual garden chairs in the mature patio and the mishmash of furniture, seemingly from the flea market but most likely very expensive. Just like the rooms of NYC's most talked about hotel of the moment. Until the next one opens, thankfully. The Broome NYC
