Café Comodo Amsterdam
The people behind the relaxed, always good Hendrix on De Clercqstraat are conquer all of Amsterdam! Okay, West will remain the neighborhood for the time being, but for their 'odd one out' they moved a little further into Oud-West (daringly). Café Comodo, is called sister café of Hendrix and the idea is that it is your new favorite living room in the city. That makes sense, if you know that Comodo is the Spanish word for comfortable. Anyway, the four owners of the business do this by doing what they do best: creating a place to have a drink, all day - everyday day long.
Although Café Cómodo is certainly not a copy of Hendrix. On the contrary: Café Comodo is a South American place with a matching menu and drink range. Great, because that part of the world delivers – in our opinion – the tastiest bites. A colorful one is what it is, just like they do in sunny South America. Warm colours, robust materials. With a highlight of a menu, including must tryouts as: octopus, ceviche, steak chimichurri. Nice for everyone, but especially for the neighborhood, because Café Cómodo primarily wants to fulfill a nice neighborhood function.
They are also good at it: you may not have known, but one of the owners is also the man behind Café van Leeuwen in Amsterdam, one of my regular bars when I came to live in Amsterdam; an address with a place in my heart. There are four of them in total, the owners, each with their own qualities. So looking forward to Café Comodo. Always.
