Café Binnenvisser Amsterdam
Do you remember a while ago when we enthusiastically told you about a new eatery in that beautiful corner building with beautiful stained glass windows near the Bilderdijkpark? The opening of that new place – it was to be called Bill Parker – went on and on and on. Until we heard afterwards that Bill Parker's boys had not made it "due to circumstances". Too bad. The beautiful building remained and two equally enthusiastic boys moved in and managed to complete the renovation. And suddenly Café Binnenvisser opened last week.

Maarten and Bob – that's the name of the enthusiastic boys – have been working behind the scenes for some time on some great catering concepts. We whisper; FC Hyena and the food festival Eten op Rolletjes, which travels through the Netherlands. And in between the businesses they dreamed of one day – as in someday – opening something for themselves. The lines were carefully laid out and soon someone tipped them off about the corner building on the Bilderdijk. And before they knew it, within half an hour they had to say yes or no to opening their boyhood dream. They did not let this great opportunity pass them by and after a few weeks of working with their own hands, sweat and tears, they were able to open the doors.

Café Binnenvisser is a real Amsterdam café. In a new guise that is. With fresh paint and fresh heads behind the bar. With good beer, even better (natural) wine and a weekly changing snack on the menu. This week snack consists mainly of vegetables. Usually it is completely vegetarian, sometimes with fish and very occasionally with meat. But there is always a vegetarian variant. Because Maarten and Bob find cooking with vegetables the most interesting. And the chef is also a vegetarian. So we expect to be served some inspiring dishes here. Binnenvisser is first and foremost a good bar, where you can... on the side can also eat well. And the prices for the dishes are more attractive than in most restaurants. The main courses are between €12,50 and €17,50 and a three-course menu is around €23. We like to stick around for that during drinks.
Just about the name. The boys met in a house on the Binnen Vissersstraat in the Jordaan. During their boyhood they regularly had good drinks here and they now want to continue the conviviality of the Binnen Vissersstraat - in an adult way - at Café Binnenvisser. Uncomplicated Jordanian conviviality in Oud West. What's not to like? Café inland fisherman
