On to the Ardennes and live like a royal at Chateau De Vignée
That vast stretch of green of our southern neighbors that they call the Ardennes is therefore an ideal place to retreat. Forests, rivers and here and there a castle to bump into. And speaking of castles... Chateau De Vignée there is a pearl there. This seventeenth-century castle on the water has recently been renovated, but with all its old glory in mind. Nice! The boutique hotel, restaurant and spa are the perfect place to withdraw if you ask us. Modern and old mix here in the interior through all the preserved ancient materials in the age-old buildings and an excellent 2021 upgrade.
We all know them, those Castles (with a capital K) with royal courtyards. One guess… Correct – Chateau De Vignée is a Belgian beauty in that category. The hotel has twenty-four rooms in light, fresh colors combined with intimate warm tones and details such as dark green and beige velvet seats and soft carpet. Some rooms have a private garden terrace and entrance from the courtyard – we want! And: if you book the Superior Room, your four-legged friend can come along. How nice! We haven't even talked about the bathrooms yet... They're a sight to behold. All with their own type of marble or stone. We want that too.
Bonus points for the castle's wellness. The entire wellness of Chateau De Vignée is uber modern and sleek. Nice contrast with the outside world here. Inside there is a large swimming pool and a hammam. Outside there is a Finnish sauna, an ice shower and two Kneipp water basins. You can also get one here upon request facial and body treatment with Caudalie's natural products.
In addition to relaxing in the wellness area, there is much more to do. Do we need to tell you that the Ardennes are beautiful? The old forests full of small and large rivers are ideal for a walk, hike, canoe trip or bike ride. You can rent bicycles and mountain bikes at Chateau De Vignée. Doing!
What you should definitely do is eat with it BURN. In the restaurant of Chateau De Vignée, headed by chef Kwinten Boelen, it's all about seasonal dishes at a high level. Many ingredients are picked straight from the own vegetable garden and greenhouse, combined with local products from the area. So really tasty food. You can choose between different menus created by chef Kwinten or a la carte with or without a wine arrangement. Tip! Choose wine, really! Because Chateau De Vignée has a wine cellar that you will admire, with wines that you would like to have at home. At the bar, which you would think was so beautiful from the books, you can spend hours with good wine or local craft beer. We told you – this is a very good idea!
