5 x to the Ardennes – Barts Best or in the green
Even if the holidays are officially over or have not yet started, there is always room for a (long) weekend in the Ardennes, right? Just getting some fresh air, as you call it. Hop, get the whole thing into the car, drive for a few hours (we can afford it) and then start gathering wood. To warm you up later by the fire. Cook your own meals, read a book, look for bugs - you know the drill. The best places for exactly this? We have! On to the Ardennes, Barts Best or in the (Belgian) green...

There are three different 'huts' (two of each, six in total) among the trees of the Belgian Ardennes on the edge of the village of Humain, a picturesque village of 250 inhabitants. ICI has done it well, with three very different options. You can choose to hang four meters high in 'The Glass Cube', experience a cozy feeling at 'The Flying Fermette', or view the stars at 'The Tower' with an eight-metre height. Originally you go there for the peace and quiet, but the view on the other hand is really one you will never forget (and you certainly won't, that's what they do for them).
Are you heading to the Ardennes? Then it is Ardennes-Step the answer. For accommodations then. They really have everything: stately castles, Burgundian country houses, wooden chalets and romantic tree houses for two. For every gang, from groups of twenty people to a holiday with your four-legged friend. It's all possible.

Our biggest Ardennes crush has been for a few years now Les Cabanes de Rensiwez. So so so beautiful and delicious and wonderful. It all started with the dream of owner Olivier Berghmans who sketched a cabana prototype and asked a carpenter friend to make that dream come true. In August 2012, that first hut was moved to a disused campsite and the rest is history: it became one of the most romantic addresses in the Ardennes. The eco-resort covers six hectares and there are twenty accommodations.
Do you want to be enchanted? Pastorie Balegem is such a unique place to stay where you want to disappear. The beautiful parsonage is a monument – thank God – and is located at the foot of the Ardennes and a stone's throw from Ghent.
From the moment you stand in front of the door you think 'wow' and that continues for a while inside. From the huge hall you can peek into the different rooms. The living room, dining room, children's playroom and don't forget to look down because the floor alone is picture perfect. Everything is right: the interior, the art and the design in carefully composed colors. We fell completely in love with the meter-long table where an amazing breakfast is laid out in the morning.
