Last weekend Charles and I fully indulged in the holiday feeling Diana Beach. It is full of trendy beach bars with really tasty food and nice beach beds where you could stay for three days. Give me some good magazines, some bacon and lime and I'll be the man.

We don't start Monday with yoga or a flower circle (which is certainly possible here), but just a nice bowl of beer. Kenyan coffee beans are yummy and the tea too, for that matter. Add fresh pineapple, rolled up in a pancake (chapati) and a dip in the sea make the perfect ritual to make something of it today. There are many other sports enthusiasts with me and on the way back I am greeted by all the sheep who are also looking forward to the day. With so much fun around you, the creativity in my mind goes crazy.

Barbara – nickname Barry Swimsuit – from Great Place To Work even conducts research in our group into the effect of this working style on the work life balance. What turns out? The pillars of motivation and productivity score high here! Everyone in the villa is looking forward to it and the gardener is already hitting a few coconuts from the air for our cocktails at the end of the day. Working on the coast provides energy for a promising week of hard work. I open my laptop for my first zoom call with as real life screensaver our swimming pool and tall palm trees. 

Then suddenly there is a quite large monkey sitting next to me. He (I see something hanging) stares intently at me and peers out of the corner of his eye at my – really – banana. I think he has a morning mood, it's very hot today. I once read somewhere that you have to walk slowly backwards quietly with other animals.

The call document started and my colleagues in turtlenecks don't understand what I'm doing, but my life is at stake. Only later do I explain why I walked completely silently on my tiptoes backwards out of the screen. The monkey has now continued with his morning walk and I pour myself a fresh glass of juice. The villa where we remote work, has a chef who makes the tastiest things. 

Diana Beach is the ideal place if you like beautiful holiday homes, tasty restaurants, trendy boutique shops and wonderful massages. Because after all that hard work, there is nothing better than flopping down and being pampered. Tomorrow I'm going to work at the beach for a day and then there's a dance lesson. In the sand! I allow the Kenyans to entertain themselves with my bumbling. The other half of ours working remotely group makes a fool of themselves during a kite surfing lesson. Apparently you just have to hire us for entertainment from your beach bed.

On the coast there are many other beautiful places such as Sweets, known for its Italian food and paradise tree houses. From there you can make a nice visit to the historic town Malindi. And if you are more into the hipster vibes and all kinds of creative initiatives, register immediately hidden gems Kilifi. 

The week flies by, working at the pool and relaxing on my ass on the beach. It's time for some adventure! With a few others we grab the motorbike and zoom away towards the south. Here we visit the mangrove forests that Charlie's Travels plants for their sake to offset CO2 emissions and thus be able to travel more sustainably.

We play with children on the beach and buy fresh fish 'to goon a market boat. We grill them in the evening in the local pub where we are challenged to a game of pool. We also don't turn down a visit to the club for a dance outside. Waking up feeling exhausted in a lovely hut by the sea, we decide to continue driving after breakfast in search of more beautiful things to photograph.
