In Groningen they have Flo who brings all of that to Groningen. The name Flo is derived from Florentin, one of the hippest and most artistic neighborhoods in Tel Aviv. Flo is a concept by Emile and Tom, inspired by the nice atmosphere you find in Tel Aviv and 'Balagan' style food. I hear you thinking… What is 'Balagan' style food? The literal translation of Balagan is joyful mess. It's not a mess at all, it's certainly joyful! At Flo you get a table full of fantastic food, which you can eat together.

Fancy a culinary world trip? At Mr. Smith's Loft will be at your beck and call. With influences from Asia, the Middle East, Europe and South America on the menu, there is something for everyone. The menu is mainly based on it shared dining concept, or smaller dishes to share.
All this in one bohemian atmosphere with lots of color, a lot of plants and all kinds of cozy corners, which ensures that we actually have the feeling of being on a trip...
In the world of Ernest Miller Hemingway, who spent an important part of his life in Cuba, everything revolved around great and compelling enjoyment. You immediately know where the name comes from. Because they can do that at Hemingway's Cuba! Tapas, street food and an extensive cocktail menu in a nice and informal atmosphere with - as the name suggests - a Cuban/Caribbean touch.
A little tip: The High Cocktail! Just a bit more fun than a high tea. With this package you choose two cocktails from the menu and a board full of delicious dishes is served.
In 2018 I was traveling in Lebanon and there I (José, Barts Boekje Groningen ambassador) became a huge fan of Lebanese cuisine. In my experience, the dishes are (almost) always better in the country itself.
But now there is Semsom, located on the Oude Boteringestraat. Semsom serves Lebanese street food, freshly prepared daily. And for a moment it is as if you are having lunch in Mar Mikhael.
