The Tuscan dream: Novanta Italy
I had a dream... And a group of Dutch friends too. The difference between us and these friends? That they took up the gauntlet and their suitcases and left for the Italian countryside to realize their dream - and ours -: they bought an abandoned sleeping village and breathed new life into it single-handedly and tastefully! Novanta, here you come! We don't kid you.
An abandoned village? Where can you stay? Huh? What? Okay, let's go back: the story of Ninety started in the summer of 2014 when four Amsterdam friends (Igor, Jeroen, Leonard and Mart) stumbled upon an abandoned Tuscan village near Arezzo and Florence – Borgo di Gello, a village abandoned in the 60s by the residents and has stood empty ever since. Four friends with an entrepreneurial spirit: the men saw their opportunity and decided to make a deal with the municipality and open a pop-up hotel for 90 days. In the ghost village (not at all spooky is), in the middle of the Italian countryside. The idea was both good and simple: the pop-up hotel was perfect for people who live the good life, who love luxury but who really wanted to leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind them. The perfect wedding without a wedding couple. Dining at long tables, trips to local producers and finding truffles and mushrooms in the surrounding forest. An experience.

It should come as no surprise that the pop-up became a big hit. What do you want: handsome rooms, beautiful natural surroundings, the peace and vibrancy of authentic Tuscan rural life. The pop-up guests wanted more (especially reservations for the following year) and the Amsterdam guests thought that was actually a good plan. No more pop-up: Novanta stayed. And it got even better. More beautiful. More versatile. More lively.
Vegetables grow in the ground, the fruit trees bloom. There are residents all year round who take care of the land and restore the village so that the site can flourish in the summer months as a hotel, but certainly as the ultimate wedding location (all your family and friends together in a real Italian private village!) and festival site!

The whole of Novanta runs on the strength of friends and the Italian neighbors and you can feel that in everything: it has become a community. And a community is of course ideal for the best events. So it's not surprising that Novanta organizes this.
But you can actually join us all year round. There are organic wines from the region to taste, you can go on a truffle hunt in the forests around Borgo di Gello, follow a pasta making workshop given by Novanta nonna 'Nella' or have a picnic by the river 'Il Corsalone'. Magic much, promised.
