For women, the long evening dress is the central garment at a gala. It is not without reason that such dresses are also regularly called gala dresses. You can go for a subtle example as well as an extravagant dress with sequins or diamonds. During a gala, you want your dress to radiate elegance. It may well be a strapless dress or a dress with a beautiful neckline, as long as it is not too deep. You can combine a gala dress with beautiful pumps and neat accessories. Go for heels in which your toes are not visible.

These accessories can be quite striking. Think for example of earrings with large gemstones or a striking necklace. And if you want a heap take some stuff with you, then go for a clutch with glitters. You can go in all directions with your make-up, but try to make it fit well with the rest of your look and choose make-up that suits you. Maybe go for a smokey eye or beautiful glitter eyeshadow. It can attract attention, so you can really go all out!

As a man, you wear a tailcoat or tuxedo. If you don't own one, you can often rent one. A gala suit is quite an expensive purchase and you may only wear it a few times. A black suit is often the most common, but a different color can sometimes be nice too. Think of a red tuxedo with black lapels or a dark blue or dark green suit. Wear a white shirt underneath and your outfit is already largely complete!

Combine your gala suit with a (black) bow tie. A tie is less common and looks more informal. One way to make a bow tie more informal is to choose a bow tie in a different colour, such as Christmas colours red or green. You can of course also coordinate this with the colour of the dress of your gala date. Under your suit, it is best to wear black patent leather shoes with black socks. If you do not have black patent leather shoes, other neat black shoes are also suitable.
