Sleeping in Dublin: our favorite hotels in the Irish capital (Dublin, Ireland)
When you say Dublin, you say Guinness. But anyone who has been there knows that the city is so much more than that. Dublin is compact, lively, and above all, incredibly charming. You can walk from a good coffee to a tasty lunch, browse vintage shops, sit down for an elaborate dinner, and end the evening with live music in the pub. Moreover, scattered throughout the city, you will find a whole range of hotels that are at least as nice as the destination itself.
The Leinster (pronounced: Lenster) is located in the elegant Merrion Square and has been thought out down to the smallest detail: from floral headboards, a carefully curated art collection, and beds you won't want to get out of, to a Japanese toilet and handy recovery kits for after a slightly too lively night at the pub. Add to that an award-winning cocktail bar, a rooftop restaurant by Jean-Georges, a gym, and a sauna, and you have a hotel where you will find practically everything you need (and more).
You could call us a repetitive record, but let's be honest: a new Hoxton makes us happy every time. And here it is. The youngest member of the family. In late 2025, they opened The Hoxton Dublin its doors, and with that, the beloved hotel chain landed on Irish soil for the first time. And they didn't just do it anywhere. The Hoxton Dublin is located on Exchequer Street, right in the city center and right amidst everything that makes a weekend in Dublin fun: good coffee, great shops, vintage stores, and more pubs than you can tick off in a few days.
Inside, The Hoxton does exactly what The Hoxton does best. Lots of wood, rich fabrics, art on the walls, beautiful lamps, and cozy nooks. The clever thing about The Hoxton is that it never feels like a hotel. More like you are a guest in the home of that one friend who understands interior design just a little too well. And then there is the team. Somehow, The Hoxton manages to find people everywhere who are both incredibly nice and effortlessly cool.
The Dean Dublin CentreJust around the corner from St. Patrick's Cathedral, it has exactly that chic-but-cool urban vibe that Dublin excels at. The lobby sets the tone immediately, and in the rooms you'll find nods to the city's rich musical history: a record player, a stack of vinyl, and a Marshall amplifier. The beds? They do exactly what they're supposed to do after an evening of pub-hopping. Breakfast is served upstairs at Sophie's, with pancakes, good coffee, and a view of the city.
Hotel The Dean Docklands
The Dean Docklands is the edgier, more modern sibling of The Dean. Located in the rapidly developing Docklands, nestled between design offices, hip restaurants, and the River Liffey. Think: lots of glass, clean lines, and an interior that feels just as contemporary as the neighborhood itself. Here, too, you won't find standard hotel rooms, but rather smart details, comfortable beds, and that recognizable Dean vibe. Bonus points for the rooftop with a pool and restaurant: a place where you’ll love hanging out just as much as the locals.
It’s not just The Leinster and The Deans who come from the same stable. There are more family members involved. And they are all a treat. Enter The DevlinThis cool kid on the block is just a tad further from the center, but just as handsome and stylish. Also, don't forget The Clarence: the iconic hotel on the Liffey.
The Wren Urban Nest Hotel It may look relatively small, but it has big ideas when it comes to eco-friendly accommodation. The 137 super-smart, bright rooms are tucked away right in the city's historic center, on the site where Andrew's Lane Theatre used to be. The 'Cosy' and 'Snug' rooms are small but super-smart and have exactly what you would expect from a city hotel: very good beds, a pleasant bathroom, a separate toilet (thank you – because we do want to go on a city trip with a friend sometimes), and plenty of storage space (under the loft bed – handy) for a few days in the city. Tip: try to book one of the top-floor rooms; you'll also get an amazing view of the city through the large glass windows right next to your bed (and no prying eyes).

The Westbury – according to Condé Nast Traveller, the best hotel in Ireland in 2025. That says enough, I think. This five-star hotel right in the heart of Dublin is classic, elegant, and a touch old-fashioned in the very best way. Think: marble, crystal chandeliers, art on the walls, afternoon tea, cocktails at Sidecar, and fine dining at Wilde. The location? Spot on too: a stone's throw from Grafton Street, Trinity College, and all the charm Dublin has to offer.
The Shelbourne: opulent suites that wouldn't look out of place in Downton Abbey, but with a contemporary twist. This iconic hotel has been a household name in Dublin since 1824, and history practically oozes from the walls. Everything exudes classic elegance, with service with a capital S. The price? It happily matches the grandeur. Not necessarily the hotel you would choose for your average books a city trip, but one we’d like to mention. Simply because dreams are also part of traveling.
Sleep as if you were living in Dublin for a while. This boutique aparthotel by Locke is located right next to the Ha'penny Bridge and combines the best of two worlds: the freedom of an apartment with the atmosphere of a boutique hotel. Think: stylish studios with a kitchen, a nice coffee spot downstairs, and all the charm of Dublin literally around the corner.
A boutique townhouse from Victorian times. That is The Wilder TownhouseA bit classic. A tad old-fashioned. No big hotel hustle and bustle here, but rather a feeling of coming home. Everything is quiet, peaceful, and spotlessly clean. With original details and a lovely courtyard, this feels more like a cozy private house than a hotel.
