An undiscovered place in Tuscany's Garfagnana: Rancone lodges
In the north of Tuscany, near the city of Lucca and the seaside resort of Forte Dei Marmi, lies the yet undiscovered Garfagnana. This mountainous part of Tuscany has not yet been overrun by the high level of tourists and is therefore fairly quiet (don't tell anyone). So that's exactly where those purebred pearls are hidden here and there... Like Rancone Lodges. It is a campsite, or well... You can hardly call it a campsite. It is a place in the middle of nature where there are various lodges, bell tents (round tents) and camping sites. The location is run by Ernst (has a renovation company), Susan (is an interior designer), Nicky (with an agricultural background) and Willem (the shepherd, how nice). The interior design was entirely done by interior designer Susan. Dutch yes. All. Expect elegant rural atmospheres with beautiful wooden tables, lamps and chairs with black details here and there.
Rancone Lodges has twenty-four camping tents, eight bell tents, eight lodges, sundecks, a swimming pool, a lounge tent and a playground. The lodges are the eye-catchers of this place. A private bathroom, a modern kitchen, and comfy beds. We told you, a campsite is hard to find. The XL lodge also has a veranda with a breathtaking view. The Belltent is something more back to basics. Here you will find a bed, refrigerator and electricity. You then shower in the general shower spots (not bad here either!). The tents are all furnished with a touch of love. You can feel that. Everything has been taken care of down to the last detail with beautiful materials and details. The lounge tent with bar has a cozy atmosphere with all the lights, seating areas and fireplace. There is also a restaurant with a view of the river where you can enjoy a pizza from the pizza oven or other Italian dishes. Speaking of having a good time... The swimming pool is certainly not bad either! There are thatched parasols with bamboo sun loungers. Nothing more needed!
Would you like to bring kids along? Yes! Bring your four-legged? Double yes! The whole shebang can join in the fun. How nice! The kids can join Willem, the dogs and the herd of sheep or swim in the river with the horses. Quad bikes are also ready to race around and when it gets dark there is a fire pit with marshmallows. Would you like to discover the area around Rancone Lodges? The most beautiful caves in Europe are here! Not kidding. A little more action? ziplining, SUPing, rafting and canyoning through the azure blue canyon it is! There are also several cycling and walking routes mapped out in Garfagnana and the beach may be a bit further away (an hour and a half drive), but then you have something. Forte Dei Marmi! The beautiful Italian seaside resort. Culture fan? Ha! Florence and Lucca are a stone's throw from Rancone lodges. Win-win-win!
The doggos have also been taken into account. You and your four-legged friend(s) can receive training from Willem and his sheep. No one is bored here at Rancone Lodges!
