Central and yet so hidden (and therefore surprising): holiday island Eilandseind is your Dutch dream staycation
You know what it is... Some people always have a better idea of what is beautiful and cool than others. That doesn't matter, especially when those People With Taste, as we like to call them, create places that we can enjoy. This happened in the case of photographer Daan Brand, who, together with his partner Rogier van der Bilt (of course also in a creative profession: the best man can also be hired as an interior architect), created their own 'Island End' has opened. Say what? Yup. Island End. A top name if you ask me, and a hell of a title for the holiday tent on an island in the middle of the country.
Island End
And then? And then you arrive at Eilandseind, a unique, very charming and simply beautiful place. Bam. No word of a lie, just look at the pictures – as always they say more than we can write down here. Although we are still chatting for a while: Eilandseind is in development and will soon be the place where you can book a nature house. For now, there is a more than handsome safari tent at your disposal.
That spacious tent is located in the middle of a piece of unspoilt Dutch nature that you didn't know was there, right in the middle of the country. The guest tent is located in a rugged peat garden where there is plenty to discover. There are comfortable beds, a hot shower, running drinking water, a toilet, a refrigerator and a 4-burner gas stove at your disposal. A bit of adventure, a bit of convenience. They also call it glamping. We approve.
Anyone who has tackled Eilandseind for a few days does little more than float a bit on the water or watch for unknown birds. Spend the whole day grinding between trees, reeds and animal sounds, according to Daan and Rogier. More action? Canoes can be rented nearby: it is only half an hour of paddling through a beautiful and diverse nature reserve and you are at the Maarsseveense plassen (which is fun!). And, the area is also fantastic for walking and cycling trips. So take your racing or touring bike with you and discover the beautiful fighting region and the rich lake area. The Loosdrecht Lakes are also nearby. You can rent (sailing) boats there, but there is also a lot of other entertainment on and even under water. Or go on even more adventure to the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and beyond. And if you feel the need for a city trip during your stay, Utrecht and Amsterdam are not too far away.
Nutshell? We have: a luxurious, attractive, fully equipped safari tent on its own (!) island, a somersault from Utreg and three somersaults from the rest of the Netherlands! Island. Tent. Just stay over.
Books? That is possible here!
