The northern Italian region is a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts and (that's the best part of the whole story) for those who don't like to spend time on long skis, but do love that unprecedented winter mulled wine-raclette-white-world atmosphere. Ha! You can't start traveling early enough, so the kids come along nicely. Where to? Family hotel Sonnwies in South Tyrol. A paradise for children and parents. The surroundings are beautiful, beautiful, beautiful (all year round, but especially when there is a lot of snow), the hotel itself is equally beautiful and comfortable with just the right dose of luxury. 10 points? 10 points.
Family hotel Sonnwies is located in the mountain village of Luesen. Back in the days it was a farm and the love for farm life has never been lost. It is conveyed so well that even as a city dweller you can't help but get excited. The menu in the restaurant changes and the ingredients are locally sourced, the wine cellar is phenomenal (and we don't say that very quickly) and the (breakfast) buffet is still not boring after a full week (and we don't say that either). fast). From the hotel you can easily walk to the 'Sorgenhof'. At this farm, children (and parents) can cuddle various animals, ride horses and have fun among the hay bales. Children can do it themselves in the factory bacon dumplings en Almbutter to make. Something different than marshmallows and bread on a stick. And if there is snow, you will find a ski school for the little ones on the same mountain.
Speaking of South Tyrol Foodies… This is one of the things we really like about Family Hotel Sonnwies in South Tyrol: in various places throughout the hotel you will find organic products from Hipp (if you don't know it, that is an organic baby brand). Baby snacks, baby snacks and more, the good ones. Just like bibs, bio-plastic plates and cutlery, fruit for little hands to grab, drinks to tap at kids' height and more of those mega well-thought-out things that you only see when you need them (and then they are there). !). There are even diapers. 10 points, we said it already.
We were equally impressed by the daycare: standard at least 2 ladies who take care of a maximum of 4 babies. If there are more minis, the auxiliary troops will come. Oh, and did we mention the hotel shop? Recommended! They have, among other things, Donsje, the nicest diving goggles for toddlers and awesome toys (that you will actually want to take home with you).
Is the hotel a play paradise? That's one understatement. On site there are several swimming pools (with slides), indoor and outdoor playgrounds including a cable car, slackline and go-kart track. You can leave that tablet at home (okay, in the car) with peace of mind. As a parent you can also enjoy a good holiday here. Let the kids loose in the playground or drop them at the children's club where they are in good hands with the entertainment team, so they can go into the mountains themselves for a big hike. Or not, the fitness and sauna are also tempting. Great of course, but let's not forget the most important thing: all this happens in a tasteful, gray/white/beige environment without ugly plastic mess (the colorful play things can only be found in the designated area) and nowhere do parents have to worry about their child having to deal with someone else's offspring for a while (let's face it: that's always so annoying).
It is clear that it is good in terms of entertainment and fun. The same goes for the rooms and the food. Beautiful (very, very spacious) rooms with even more beautiful views. There are even suites with their own fireplace. And chalets. And lodges. And villas. You can make it as luxurious as you want. Stay at the hotel is all inclusive, you can enjoy the buffet with Tyrolean and Italian dishes several times a day. Many dishes are organic and prepared with ingredients from our own garden. There is also a bar and a panoramic lounge where you can choose from one of the 650 (!) wines while the kids sip a kids' cocktail. Jetz geht's loose.
