Greece – tipped by a local!
It's time again for the very best insider tips from an expert. Today by none other than Haris Stavridis, the Greek who knows how to discover every treasure spot on the Greek mainland and its countless islands. It appears that he is not the least in this regard, since Haris is the founder and chief van Globe & Trotter is. Please read on because Haris is spilling some good beans...
Crete, Kos, Santorini... They are all wonderful islands, but how wonderful to occasionally be able to look further than our noses. Ever heard of Symi Island? From now on you won't forget this anymore. With the unique architecture, the most beautiful of the most beautiful houses and buildings such as The Monastery of the Archangelsks Michael Panormitis we fall in love with Greece again. Or what did you think of the island with the name? Samothrace, where you will find raw, untouched nature and even visit natural springs. Side note: favorite places like Mykonos en Santorini It's still worth it to keep going.
Not (per se / only) Haris's tips, but our own list (okay: laundry list) with the nicest/best/finest of the Greek island of Crete!
Maybe surprising, maybe not. Greece in the inland mountains is beautiful in both winter and summer. Actually, Greece is worth visiting all year round. Take picturesque places like Meteora, Zagoria, Arachova en Kalabryta. Just put them on your list. Because man-o-man, the Greek islands (227 of them!) are beautiful, but let's not forget that the country also has a fantastic interior.

Greece is sun, sea… SEA. Whether they are secret gems or not, Haris tells us the most beautiful beaches of his native country. His top 2? Agia Paraskevi beach at Syvota Thesprotias and Voutoumi Beach are at Antipaxos according to him both stunning. We take him at his word.
We know the latter! Read about it here 10 x the best things about Peleponnese
Do you like the beach but not so much sand? Beach club Cabana Mare on wonderful Crete it is. Relax with your feet up on a bed with the lapping waves in the background. What more could you want? That's right, they also throw wonderful parties here and there is always something planned. Very nice place, see and be seen a bit. So be prepared.
Planning to travel to Corfu? Then we strongly recommend that you at least take a look at the beach bar in Corfu Pazuzu. Pazuzu is located on it Glyfada beach that doesn't get its name for nothing golden beach has received. Another great beach bar with a delicious restaurant. You don't have to leave your spot all day long. Because everything becomes, as we wish, brought to your bed.
There is a small chance that when you arrive on Mykonos, you have never heard of beach club Scorpios. Scorpios, which a league of its own is, or the beach tent of beach tents. There is such a beautiful, clever piece of styling behind this. The style is somewhat reminiscent of one nomad look with the most beautiful combinations of earth tones in the already beautiful interior, making the beach tent look like it was carved out of the rocks. Especially in the evening is Scorpios booming. Then the feet go into the sand, the fire pits are lit and the champagne is served popped.

Back to the mainland, or rather to the Greek capital Athens, where you can find delicious restaurants. For fresh fish it is best to sit down at Dourambeis. Also called the best fish restaurant in town. We shouldn't just take Haris' word for that, because the real one locals from Athens can also be found in this restaurant. Then you know you're in the right place, right?
Or for those romantic evenings where you long for a nice dinner all evening, you can do that at Cherchez La Femme. It is romantic, with the brown bar that contrasts nicely with the fantastic green floral wallpaper. Hang out at the bar here and share typical Greek dishes.
Ergon Foods you go for their, in Athens, quite unique concept. It's a restaurant Slash food market and almost the Greek translation of our well-known food halls. What's extra nice is that all the products that Ergon Foods sells are grown by small Greek greengrocers, fruit growers, you name it.
If you happen to (or not) go to Athens in May, then the Street Food Festival is one of them must go to. You have to be lucky because it only takes place once a year. Again in May 1. lucky you if you are in the area on the weekends of 8/9/10, 15/16/17 or 22/23/24 May.

For holidaymakers with kiddos, Haldiki, as a place in general, is the place to go. A top spot par excellence. Also go here to Sithonia. Here you will find kid proof beaches that slowly slope into the sea without being overrun by mega tourism. You want it, the kids want it.
No kids? And you also don't want to have kids around you on a holiday? Then check out Domes Noruz in Chania, Greece. Nice place, fantastic events. Up and down.
