Think rock & roll, flower power, retro vintage and you have some idea of what you can find at Happy Girls. It makes us happy.

The Old Fashioned Bakery – for all your old-fashioned baking. Pigeon tom, sea bear, currant wedge, longneck, egg bread or a Vischpoortje: everything is still baked in the traditional way, almost like in the old days! Of course, lots of extra treats around the holidays.

The Fish Gate – the only remaining city gate in Harderwijk. Nice to walk along and under; you're close anyway. It is located on a square with old fisherman's houses, also a good place for a small picnic or ice cream from Partridge.

John

John

John is one of the oldest fish restaurants in Harderwijk. The restaurant is located on the boulevard, so you can enjoy gazing over the water and people watching. A very handsome restaurant in 30s style with velvet-covered chairs, a wooden bar and a menu with many different fish dishes. Go for the seafood, an eel tasting (smoking eel is one of the specialties), fresh oysters or a well-filled bouillabaisse. At Johannes you can also buy fish for home. Although it tastes extra good if someone else prepares it for you.

Partridge; Pastry and Ice Cream

Partridge; Pastry and Ice Cream

Partridge; Pastry and Ice Cream is a must visit for sweet tooths and bon vivants in general. At this authentic salon they make artisanal pastries, ice cream and desserts every day. This year they even managed to win the title 'Golden Ice Cream Creation 2023' Mille-Tuille. At the weekend you can during the afternoon tea unlimited tea drinks. Of course without dry biscuits and with handmade works of art. Ice cream and pastry Next Level tho. The interior of Patrijs is just as colorful and delicious as their pastry shop.

If you know you're going to Harderwijk and you plan a bit in advance, then reserving a table at 't Nonnetje** is a must. So good, so inspired - the (small) hit on your wallet is more than worth it.

Restaurant Caert

Restaurant Caert

Caert is atmospheric and located in the middle of the cozy city center of Harderwijk. The dishes? You could say that they are at a high level. The prices are nice (long live the province!) and the atmosphere is relaxed and very pleasant. You can choose from a three- to seven-course menu and what you get is a surprise (okay, you can submit your wish-I-would-rather-not list). They are also happy to recommend the tastiest wines to you, so that the whole picture is correct. The chefs work in an open kitchen with mostly seasonal products, with the aim of surprising you culinary every time. The dishes have an international twist and every detail on your plate is carefully considered.

Fat Dirck

Fat Dirck

After a night out Fat Dirck roll home with a round and full belly. Burgundian enjoyment it is. Dirck not only impresses your taste buds; it is also a ball for the rest of the senses. Inside it is a pleasant chaos where there is plenty to see and where your own creativity spontaneously takes a ride with you. The owners collected the furniture and accessories themselves and that turned out well. Just like sitting in the living room of that one creative aunt, but with flair and taste. The menu is the same colorful and varied as the interior.

ps Dikke Dirck is also in Amersfoort.

Tipi Island Campspirit (De Kluut)

Tipi Island Campspirit (De Kluut)

In the category gotta love: the island The Avocet and there the teepee tents Camp spirit, even if it's just for one night (everyone survives that, right?). In the middle of Lake Veluwe, near Harderwijk, there is a small island, De Kluut. Sleeping on an uninhabited island, in your own mini territory (because tents are placed exactly in such a way that everyone has their own spot). Dream plan.

In fully and comfortably furnished, authentic tents of traditional nomadic peoples you can - oh dear - camp in relative luxury (read: no lugging around. And there are showers with hot water).

Coco's Buitenhuisje (just outside Harderwijk in Nunspeet)

Coco's Buitenhuisje (just outside Harderwijk in Nunspeet)

Nature in abundance, but also cozy Hanseatic cities such as Elburg and Harderwijk are very close, so you can certainly say that Coco's Country House is well located in Nunspeet. You can park in front of the door, but Coco's Buitenhuisje is also easily accessible by public transport. A Tiny House, yes, but tiny doesn't mean you can't play with color, as we see again here. Lots of color and cool details, a custom-made burgundy bed, gold tiles in the kitchen and nothing is ever too small for wall art.
