A no-brainer, but if you go to London during or just before Christmas, the skating rink at the famous (and beautiful!) Summerset House really not to be missed. Walk through the gates of the majestic white building and in the middle you will find a magical white ice place surrounded by high walls and a very cozy bar. Usually sponsored, but hey, that gigantic tree, that perfectly maintained ice cream, the toilets... It has to be paid for somewhere. It certainly doesn't make it any less fun.

Somerset House is also located next to Covent Garden, so after skating you can also enjoy it, because let's face it: London without Covent Garden isn't London, right?

Borough Market at Christmas: 24 hours in London and a foodie? Skip the rest and head to Borough Market, also on the south side of the Thames. This market, which is optimally Christmas-misted (or something) at Christmas, is a party all year round, and even more so in December when the cheesemongers (those cheeses!!) and pastry chefs go all out like never before.

Don't be put off by the long lines here. Everything is super organized here and within five minutes you'll be standing with your hot chocolate milk (with Baileys please) or your fresh strawberries with the most delicious chocolate on top. A big tip are the Créme Brûlée donuts from Bread Ahead - Not. normal. delicious.

Perhaps the biggest favorite of all. Because you can drink Ruinart at 10 in the morning in the beautiful cocktail bar and adjoining 'suite' and that is perfectly normal. The terrace is great for summer and winter, the gate of the Chiltern Firehouse is located on one of the most beautiful streets in the state (with the Monocle Café on that street), and the restaurant is exactly that classic dining (or lunching) that you would expect in a city like London. At Christmas, as befits a classic, it is beautiful and optimally decorated. And then we haven't even mentioned the bedrooms.

Then a street with shops that you might not always just walk into (although you can of course): New Bond Street. Here you will find shops like Chanel and Dior and they just happen to go all out during the Christmas period. You just have to walk past here to see what kind of artwork they have made of the facade and the windows this year. Whoopsie, spoiler because you can already see them in the picture here, but believe us, in real life it looks 1000x more beautiful.

Notting Hill deserves a special place on this list because we love Notting Hill. Especially at Christmas a black to hop by, a dream anyway thanks to all the colored doors and the general movie-like chicness of the neighborhood (we're just missing Hugh Grant). Once there, we're happy to easy going have lunch or dinner at Granger & Co, or the Notting Hill location of Ottolengi, and of course wandering around the Portobello Road Market. Still need a nice and original Christmas present? Check out the stands with vintage watches, not expensive and all equally beautiful.

If you make a whole day of it in Notting Hill, Electric Cinema a big tip. Watching a movie is really cozy and Christmassy and the cinema also looks great picture-perfect from.

London's Theatre District: West End. It's fun to walk through and maybe you'll do that unconsciously when you're there, because it's right in the city center and there's a theater on almost every street corner. The outside is already a picture (especially during Christmas), but what happens inside is of course even more interesting. London has a huge range of fantastic shows and musicals, so there's something for everyone. Think of the Nutcracker (completely fitting for the festive season), Matilda (fun with the kids), or Magic Mike (without the kids, and preferably without a man :)). Either way, a wonderful evening or afternoon activity and you'll be nice and warm (at least at Magic Mike's).
