Did you wait until the last minute to buy your Christmas gifts? We get it: you were busy at work, the weather was bad, you couldn't find a good moment and even worse: what on earth are you going to buy for your loved ones? What do you put under the Christmas tree for the foodies in your life? We know! At Locals Utrecht you've come to the right place. Think of a bottle of vinegar from the Roze Bunker, a pot of cheese fondue from Oudwijker or beer from the local brewery De Kromme Haring or vandeStreek.

Speaking of beer, if you're looking for specialty beer in a nice gift box, you should go to Little Beer in the Hardebollenstraat. Rather looking for a good bottle of wine? Then go to the Utrecht Wine House on the Domplein – you can immediately get a cake from their neighbors, the vegan bakery Kluts.

Another nice tip for a tasty olive oil, for example, is caterer Bigoli. Here they understand what is meant by la dolce vita.

Is the lucky bastard that you receive as a gift often find in the kitchen? Then we have some addresses for you. For example Betsie's Cooking Shop in the heart of Utrecht the place where you can find everything for the fanatic home chef. Think of beautiful bowls, Le Creuset pans, high-quality kitchen utensils or a new mug.

Dill & Chamomile is always a good place if you are looking for nice gifts. Fun fact: this chain of stores started 49 years ago in Utrecht, so you still shop a kind of local. At their store on the Oudegracht you can undoubtedly put together a nice package for the fervent hobby chef.

A case of always-good is a beautiful plant with a nice pot. Or how about a nice vase? We are always happy with that. That is why we have kept our eyes open for the nicest plant shops in the Domstad.

Red and Flower is a great place to score a gift for a real plant lover. Everywhere you look there are plants, pots and other gadgets. They also have a lot of nice Christmas decorations. A dream gift: a beautiful plant in that one lemon vase, which you probably have viral have seen go. Santa, are you reading?

At Daen's Greenhouse you are guaranteed to find a beautiful plant to give. One door further you will find Daen's lunchroom where you can make a pit stop between shopping.

A beautiful book is a classic Christmas gift, but that doesn't make it any less fun. Finding a beautiful cookbook, a coffee table book or an exciting thriller under the Christmas tree is actually very nice.

Utrecht has no shortage of beautiful bookstores. Broese is heaven on earth as far as we are concerned. If you can't find a book here, we don't know what to do. They really have EVERYTHING there.

Another great place to continue your search for the perfect Christmas gift is Bookstore Bijleveld, an independent bookstore across the street from Janskerkhof.

Last but not least: gifts for real interior lovers. Utrecht has enough shops where you can score something nice for those people. Our favorite is FIRMLY, an Amsterdam brand that not only has minimalist furniture, but also many cool accessories such as candlesticks, plaids or bowls. Their Utrecht store is on the Lange Jansstraat, right across from Neude.

E&co is a good place to start if you are looking for a sustainable gift. The department store has everything and anything for your home. Also walk downstairs to look for a unique Christmas gift among the vintage items.
