Madiana - All You Need Is Love

Madiana - All You Need Is Love

Ho, ho, ho – my favorite Christmas show? I don’t have to think long about that one: All You Need Is Love. No Christmas without that well-known dose of over-the-top love. Robert ten Brink is a regular at our house on Christmas Eve.

I can't wait for that big bus to come around the corner. What a wonderfully high level of coziness this program has. Joy, a little discomfort (it is Christmas after all), and then that tear-jerking moment when the love birds see each other.

I would say: gather all the couples! Because I am ready for it. Keeping it completely dry? I have not succeeded yet. With Robert we will ring in the holidays as pleasantly as possible.

All You Need Is Love can be seen on December 24, 20.00 p.m op RTL 4. Watch it back if you missed the episode.

Isa – VTwonen: In love with your home again

Isa – VTwonen: In love with your home again

Maybe not the standard Christmas show, but it feels so cozy and festive:
VTWonen: Fall in love with your home again. Although that might also be because this program is the program that is always binged at my parents' house. If you know, you know: those houses that may be a little bit meh are, but where Frans and Marianne, among others, wave their hands, paintbrushes and styling to achieve that final wow effect to awareness

I personally find it a joy to see how those houses are getting a new lease of life and it inspires me to get started on the job myself. In any case, ideal with a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter evening.

Get that Christmas tree ready – Frans can probably hang up a light or two.

Romy – Happy Valley

Romy – Happy Valley

Love British series: at least they're not so exaggerated. Just nice and down to earth, with normal people. And if you already get excited about Scandinavian crime like The Bridge, then is H yours too vibe.

This is one of those series that fits perfectly on dark days: cozy at home on the couch, electric blanket on (at least at my house), cup of tea and watching that wonderfully gray British landscape. You follow a policewoman who picks up a case that seems simple at first but — you can already feel it coming — quickly turns into a complex network of crime. Oh, and not entirely unimportant: the male lead is certainly not a punishment to watch. With three seasons I can get through the winter.

Happy Valley is a BBC First series and you can watch 3 seasons of it on NLZIET.

Hantsen - The Jetty

Hantsen - The Jetty

On the British tour? Then The Jetty is also high on your list Watchlist. No cliché Christmas tree drama or feel good series where everyone flies into each other's arms crying. Nope, this is raw, exciting and a bit dark. No lost loves under a sparkling Christmas tree here, but a detective who has to rethink everything she loves. Because yes, the secrets are there for the taking.

With Jenna Coleman (yep, Doctor Who!) in the lead role, you know the acting is going to be great. No sweet stuff, but an exciting series to snuggle under your covers. And bonus points: it's only one season. binge watchingBefore you know it, you’re already at the credits.

The Jetty is also a BBC First series. Watch the entire season at NLZIET.

Anne - The Allowances Affair

Anne - The Allowances Affair

Ok, maybe not the most cheerful topic for the holidays, but maybe that's when you'll have the time and space in your head to watch this series. And we make time for good series, right? What was it again? It was the big political debacle that caused the fall of the Rutte III cabinet and thousands of people (an estimated 26.000 parents and 70.000 children) to get into serious trouble.

Due to small 'mistakes' or incorrect information, families had to pay back their entire allowance. The result? Many parents ended up deeply in debt, sometimes tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of euros. The series impressively shows what an enormous impact this had. And also how hard some lawyers, politicians and people within the Tax and Customs Administration are working to help. Not a feel-good, but a tearjerker and certainly a must see.

Watch the entire season at NLZIET.

Florine - Tropical Years

Florine - Tropical Years

I love, love, love series that are so recognizable and close to situations that often occur in real life. Throw in a good dose of humor, and you have the perfect series to watch in the evening during those colder winter months. The series Tropical years is one of those. It's about two young parents trying to find a balance between family life and ambitions and everything that comes with it.

I may not be in the middle of family life like they are, and I haven't reached their age yet, but the situations in the series are still so recognizable. And then the main roles: Henry van Loon and Jelka van Houten. Those two are hilarious on their own, and as a couple in real life they only make it more fun - yes, I'm a big fan.

Watch 2 seasons at NLZIET.

Madiana - last but not least: Thirtysomethings

Madiana - last but not least: Thirtysomethings

Speaking of recognizable situations. Now that I'm almost 30 (hello 31 in coming), the series Dertigers naturally fits seamlessly into my life. My boyfriend and I watch it together every now and then. I often have to laugh because I think 'so exaggerated', but even more often I recognize myself in the dilemmas that are outlined.

There are 5 seasons and what I like about that is that you can watch it with a sideways eye every now and then. And if you missed something, you're back in it again in no time.
