From sleeping well to eating, Kimpton De Witt in Amsterdam is the place to be
We don't know about you, but on dark, dreary days, you always intensely long for that delicious blanket of warmth and pampering from a luxury hotel and a good restaurant. And what if that restaurant also serves a dinner that is guaranteed to be a treat? Eastern Mediterranean cuisine is always a winner, especially when you leave it to the guys at NENI. Think beetroot with smoked aubergine, tuna carpaccio, and a smash burger with harissa.
Good news for those who already know NENI at Stadionplein and, like us, sometimes dream about their falafel: you can now find NENI Centrum in Kimpton De Witt, the second Amsterdam location. Here too, it is all about Eastern Mediterranean cuisine and ordering a table full of goodies together. Colorful mezze, fresh salads, warm eggplant melanzane, and oh, absolutely do try that grilled artichoke. You will find the well-known NENI signatures on the menu, all meant to be shared (if you like).
The new location is on the ground floor of the hotel, where restaurant Celia was previously housed. The open kitchen remained, and extensive renovations were carried out to make it just as warm a place as NENI in Zuid. Design agency Concrete took charge of the project and They did well.You can come here every day from 12:00 PM, so from a quick lunch and extensive aperitivo to a cozy dinner. Right in the city center, close to Amsterdam Central, making it an ideal place to meet up, even if you are not staying at the hotel.
We previously stayed at the hotel that NENI is part of, namely the luxurious Kimpton de Witt. A chain with sister hotels in Monaco and London, among others. We know the owners of the Amsterdam branch from Jansz and the Pulitzer Amsterdam. A handsome room, the junior suite, with a sweeping view of the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. The trams jingled softly past, for that true Amsterdam feeling.
A beautiful room with a height difference (you enter via a staircase that descends to the actual bedroom) which made the space feel large. All rooms are top decorated with cool art (think Polls Potten and Marcel Wanders). A stylist with an accurate hand has clearly been at work here.
The communal seating areas on the ground floor are also fresh and designer, without detracting from the warmth. Striking artwork; a huge (huge!) forest of wood in the lobby. Bart was there from Friday to Saturday, so we could do some shopping on Saturday morning at the organic Noordermarkt, which is within walking distance. A nice walk through the Jordaan and the 9 streets and many shops later, we could collect our luggage at the hotel. And – last but not leaset – driving our car out of the hotel's private parking garage onto the road. For all non-Amsterdammers, a really huge advantage of this place.
