Bart's best of: Coffee and breakfast in Copenhagen

Can we give our humble opinion? If you ask us, it's Copenhagen the place to be for a mini breaks. A perfect city that actually has everything to really relax and enjoy. Good vibes, fine fashion labels with beautiful shops and, above all, hordes of good restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops.

In addition, everything is within walking distance or cycling, which makes it a nice place for a trip of about 3/4 days.

Here are the tips for a good cup of coffee, a nice good croissant (as it should be: crispy and fresh) and a nice breakfast.

Andersen & Maillard

Andersen & Maillard

Create a all-time favorite which never goes wrong, if you ask us. For delicious coffee is Andersen your guy, but also for the pastries you are at the right place. Best of both worlds – let's leave it at that.

At Andersen & Maillard, the bakers start at 3 in the morning to make sure that your cup of coffee and pastries are ready to order in the morning. At the branch in Nørrebro, you will find a lovely open space with enough chairs to move around and do things. Outside, you can sit just as comfortably on the wooden benches in the sun. The coffee is carefully prepared at an open counter, where you can also experience all the expertise of the team that prepares your coffee.

Create a must try if available? The almond croissant (you won't get a better one anywhere) and the cube croissant with pistachio. Your mouth waters.

Lille Bakery

Lille Bakery

Popular for years for tourists who dare to go to “the other side”, namely Reffen. This somewhat rougher neighborhood is reminiscent of the NDSM wharf meets Brooklyn – fun!

Lille Bakery has a delicious one easy going set up – namely an old garage that now functions as a bakery café. The nicest thing is the view of the kitchen where the bread comes out of the oven and where everything is freshly prepared. You can sit outside at the long picnic tables or small seating areas. In addition, like almost all bakeries in Copenhagen, they have a nice jug of water with glasses for you, which you can take yourself. So there is no shortage of hydration.

If you are a spoiled cappuccino drinker, unfortunately. At Lille there is filter coffee and filter coffee it is. There are delicious homemade lemonades and juices. You can indulge yourself for breakfast and lunch. There are various topped brioche variations – egg with fried garlic and spinach sage or a sweet variant with ricotta and plum and almond jam.

Heart Bageri

Heart Bageri

Hart Bageri has a new branch since the beginning of this year, and not just any one. A nice bakery with a lot of seating in perhaps the most beautiful location in Copenhagen, in Holmen on the water. You know, that cycle path you cycle down when you go to Reffen – call it the natural zone between Reffen and the busy city.

The location in Holmen has everything: lovely outdoor seating on the quay, inside you can sit comfortably in the wooden interior and plenty of goodies to taste. This location is open from 8 a.m. to 18 p.m. during the week and on weekends they even open until 22 p.m., so there is also the option for a glass of wine and a sandwich. Something different than your cup of coffee from Hart.

Did we mention that the owner is an ex-baker of Noma? Must visit so, that Hart Bageri

Pharmacy 57

Pharmacy 57

A nice classic is Apotek. You can easily come across it in the north of the city. Nice to combine with Rosenborg Slot and the surrounding park. At Apotek you can see on the counter, wherever you order, what is served every day – and again filter coffee it is.

Next to that lovely spot is Frama, another tip to gain inspiration for your interior. If you come a little later in the day, you can also go straight to the neighbors after your visit. At Bottega Barlie they have wonderful wines and delicious snacks.

Darcy's Kaffe

Darcy's Kaffe

Darcy's is nice, Darcy's is fun. The café is perfect if you are heading towards the west of the city. It is located on a lovely corner so you can enjoy people watching.

The subtitle – Serving great coffee and simple food done well – fits perfectly, given that the focus here is certainly on the fresh coffees, but the meals really well well done are. The yoghurt with granola is always presented in a different guise, so you may get one with blood orange and caramel. Also surprising, that Darcy. They also serve delicious breakfasts with all kinds of egg variations and for a small appetite you are well off with a delicious cinnamon or cardamom bun.

Alice

Alice

Alice is a neighborhood favorite, many Danes start their day here with the daily recipe. Could be a cheese sandwich, a croissant and the daily coffee. In addition, Alice does something a little different: in the summer there is also fresh ice cream and then really tasty ice cream.

In addition to all this, Alice is also one bottle shop – a well-known phenomenon in the Danish capital – you can easily grab a bottle of wine with it.
