Fresh off the press is Bakery Canteen. Eand new all-day bakery, which opens its doors on Groendalstraat in Antwerp. Founder Ifke Nauwelaerts wants to make it more than just a bakery with an open bakery workshop and a neighborhood-oriented approach. And that is evident in everything on the menu. You start the day with a crème croissant or cinnamon bun with coffee. For lunch, choose one of the generously filled sandwiches and settle down comfortably on the cozy terrace. And even the drinks have been thought of: order a delicious glass of wine with focaccia to round off a long day of shopping. Yes!
We kick off with two highlights when it comes to lunch: Camion & Camionette in Antwerp. First Truck. Boqion, together with chef Lander, combines her passion for food and drink with a delicious plant based food concept. You can go here for breakfast and lunch with a seasonal menu. So there is no fixed menu, but pastries, juices and various toast you can always expect at Camion. Not convinced yet? Then maybe the blue tile floor will change that, because hello picture-perfect Instagram snapshot!
And then next: Van. Same concept, same owners, only you can come here in the evening for plant based dishes. We cook with fresh, organic and local products that have been carefully selected. If you fancy a glass of wine (and let it be natural wine), you're in for a treat here. They only serve natural wines, which they fully support, so you can hardly go wrong.
Looking for the most beautiful neighborhood in Antwerp? Then Zurenborg is a great contender. The grandeur of the belle époque Remained It is well preserved and between the quiet streets and Art Nouveau facades, you will find many pleasant squares. Located on one of those squares Whale, a cozy and no nonsense address. The menu features eggs benedict, avocado toast, and delicious flatbreads. In the summer, you can relax on the terrace, but it is also lovely to spend time inside – thanks to the colorful interior. Apero time? Then Walvis is the right place for you too. And nowadays you can even enjoy dinner there. We want that!
Tinsel is initially noticed by the modern logo and the stylishly decorated café behind it. And secondly, the breakfast and lunch café is not at all disappointing... In fact, it is one of our longest-running favorites in Antwerp. The dishes are more than tasty, the prices are good, the atmosphere is cozy, the service is friendly and all at Sint-Paulusplaats.
You find August on the site of what used to be the Military Hospital in the Berchem district, now also called the Groenkwartier. August is located in the former Augustinian monastery. Here, hence the name August (it can be easy sometimes, right). Besides the fact that you can eat there, it is also a hotel, wellness and shop. There will be one à la carte The menu is cooked. They describe it themselves as a modern brasserie; creative yet accessible. And we’ll just add a 'culinary masterpiece' to that, because that is certainly what you can expect at August in Antwerp. Although you can go there more often for breakfast or dinner, you can enjoy a delicious lunch there on Fridays and Saturdays. Highly recommended!
Album This is one you can add to your Antwerp album. With a lunch that is a true work of art, this is a favorite spot. Album is a seasonal album of what they enjoy themselves. With a choice of a two-, three-, or four-course lunch, there is something to suit every appetite. Sounds like an album we want to have. And we are not the only ones; the restaurant is often fully booked. But you can always call, and often you can still snag a spot via the waiting list and enjoy the delicious food at Album. The restaurant also serves dinner. Who knows, you might have more luck then, should lunch not work out.
Amsterdam already has a few restaurants with a focus on hummus, but we had not spotted any in Antwerp yet. Until now. Don't expect goat's wool socks vibes (if you already did when hearing about the chickpea pasta): Hümm is a contemporary, hip spot with a sleek polished concrete floor, white painted brick, marble and an occasional leather ottoman or sofa. You can order different types of dips, mezze and salads. Plus a selection of natural wines and local beers.
It is and remains one of the nicest hotels in Antwerp: Hotel Pilar. The modern, artistic decor, with much of Antwerp's ruggedness in the interior, is delightful. And the location in 't Zuid (right opposite the Museum of Fine Arts) is spot-on. So far so good when it comes to sleeping in Antwerp, but Pilar is also the food bar of our choice when it comes to a relaxed brunch or lunch. You can sit there (Parisian-esque) on the terrace when the sun shines even a little, and it is also a mini party inside. We haven't even talked about the food yet. Favorite!
For Vietnamese c you have to go to favorites Bun join us. At Bún you will find a menu full of authentic Vietnamese recipes. With the little one bites With dishes like grilled chicken, carpaccio, shrimp, and spring rolls, you're well catered for at lunchtime. There is plenty of choice, so if you're having trouble deciding, be sure to share the menu. That way, you can savor all the deliciousness of Vietnamese cuisine. Prefer not to share? That's certainly possible too. The menu also features various rice noodles and pho. There are plenty of options for vegetarians, but certainly for meat and fish lovers as well.
We will stay in the Asian sphere for a moment. Picniq in Antwerp has a Korean cuisine. The menu includes Korean classics that have been given a modern twist. Enough of that streetfood and classics as well as the drinks have been carefully selected. With an interior that completely fits the Korean culture (lots of light, light wood, simple, we like it), Picniq completes the picture. Just be in the Korean atmosphere for a moment.
We ended up in this restaurant for lunch after an afternoon out shopping in the center of Antwerp (or to lay a good foundation before the shopping adventure starts, is also possible). Bee Cafématic you can relax inside or outside on the terrace with a cup of coffee and a tasty sandwich. It's nice inside cozy furnished with a black and white checked floor and cozy hanging lights above the bar. Tip: order banana bread here – truly finger-licking good!
