LUSTER MAASTRICHT, a very handsome new one at the Vrijthof
On March 15, the doors of the Old Dutch Beer & Food restaurant on the Vrijthof in Maastricht closed with the expectation of reopening two weeks later. Two months later than planned, the time had finally come. But different: the place got a new (very nice) look, a new menu and a new name: Luster. Luster Maastricht aka the youngest Mediterranean bistro in the south of the country. No, no, not a cafe or a restaurant, but a place with small dishes on the menu that are a bit reminiscent of summer holidays.
However, these small dishes that smell of summer should not be confused with tapas: at Luster you can eat items such as a refined tuna tartare with avocado, dukkah (Egyptian mixture of herbs and nuts) and wasabi cream and arancinis (a kind of risotto balls) with pecorina cheese. to start with. Caprese with burrata and polenta with wild mushroom and a truffle fonduta when the table becomes full for the second time with dishes to share, including a duck breast with a sweet soy-shallot sauce, sweet potato and vegetable julienne, the Luster signature dish, as a main course.
