Dine all day at restaurant Morrow in Utrecht
From the people behind De Watertoren, Fico, Streetfood Club and Vegitalian, there is now also MorrowAnd no, not yet another concept, but truly a restaurant that was missing from the list. A all day spot where you can quickly pull up for coffee and a croissant as well as for an extensive lunch, a good glass of wine, or a table full sharing dishes.
You can find Morrow on Nagtegaalstraat, in the former Vegitalian building. That has been completely gutted and transformed into a Cozy, stylish place. Think: lots of natural materials, warm colors, and an interior that looks like it came straight from owners Joep and Sieppien's Pinterest boards.
In the open kitchen stands Jean Carlo, better known in Utrecht as Ceviche Papi. The menu is Mediterranean, but gets a surprising Peruvian twist here and there. Everything is made to be shared, and a new menu appears every season. Love it. The ceviches from Ceviche Papi? Of course, we had to try them all. This is our ranking:
- Tuna Ceviche Nikkei with nikkei tiger milk, citrus and canchita.
- Piel de Sapo Ceviche with honeydew melon, jalapeño and pimiento de padrón.
- Ceviche Clásico with sea bass, sweet potato, and canchita.
- Salmon Crudo with passion fruit tiger milk.
But be sure to order the artichoke pinsa as well; it's a fantastic side dish. Meanwhile, the pizzaiolo is working overtime, the crispy chickens are flying off the 500-degree BBQ as if it were nothing, and we got one more tip from the table next to us: the whole sea bass here is supposed to be truly top-notch. Reason enough to be back soon.
Okay, and just one more then, because wine lovers take note: sommelier Sjoerd Kist curated the wine list together with Morrow and For the entire month of July, you get a 50% discount on his personal top 10 from the card.. Sounds like a good excuse to make that reservation right away.
