Healthy Hotspot on Ibiza: The Passion Café Ibiza

De juice bars and cafes The Passion so - we come late increasingly behind - quite an institution in Ibiza. To be honest We always passed it by rather quickly, because chains are simply not our thing cup of tea (even if you replace the tea with wine). Until we ended up there by accident. And to be honest, we've been quite a fan of it ever since The Passion Café Ibiza.

The Passion Café Ibiza

The Passion Café Ibiza

Because even though there are 5 'branches' on the island, it doesn't feel like a chain at all. Each place has its own character and atmosphere. The crowning glory of their work is the latest copy, which landed just a few weeks ago on perhaps the most famous square on the island, the Vaya de Rey in Ibiza town. Think: Fresh white walls, cozy marble tables alternating with larger concrete ones, bamboo chairs, wicker lampshades, a graphic zigzag tile against the bar and hexagon mirror tiles on the walls. Jars with preserved fruit, more reeds and bamboo on the bar and plants everywhere. All in all: a wonderful mix of Scandinavian design meets the local Ibiza style. The terrace is equally beautiful, also covered with lush palms and one of the best views in town over the beautiful square.

When we started to delve deeper into it, there was also a special story behind it The Passion cafe to sit. It all started with Lana from Croatia, who opened the first location in Playa den Bossa in 2002. Out of necessity she decided to start a small summer business, hoping that she would earn enough money to make her dream of attending a drama school in London come true. As a child, she had witnessed the civil war in Croatia firsthand, leaving her with trauma that resulted in digestive problems. This is where her interest and passion in nutrition and various alternative ways to heal herself arose.

The philosophy of Passion Café is to make good, natural and healthy dishes with the very best ingredients available. The food is pure and unadorned, using locally grown and organic products as much as possible. And you taste this. Every dish is super fresh and looks beautiful. While the focus is on plant-based foods and the juices and smoothies are legendary, there are also great fish and chicken options on the menu. That is not unimportant to mention Coffee is also very important at Passion, so it is roasted to a special recipe here in Ibiza by local artisans.

All these special qualities have not gone unnoticed, because every year since 2013 they have been proud to call themselves winners of the Best Ibiza Cafe and Healthy Eating Destination, an award presented annually by the local magazine White Ibiza.

In addition to the locations in Playa den Bossa and Vaya de Rey, you will also find Passion café on the boulevard of Santa Eularia, in the Marina of Ibiza Town and in San Jose.

Lana's dreams of drama school have not come to fruition yet.

As far as we're concerned, that's a good thing.
