Fun and educational podcasts for primary school children

It's crazy in podcast land. There are educational, entertaining, vulnerable and funny podcasts. There is a podcast for every target group, including children. Which podcasts for primary school children are incredibly fun and sweet and exciting and educational? From true crime to science, these kids' podcasts are worth a listen for ages 6 to 12 (and the rest of the family).

Listening in can be fun. But perhaps the children are already in bed, you have no children at all or you prefer to start your own podcast. These are our favorite podcasts for big people.

Meerkats the podcast - about science

Meerkats the podcast - about science

Primary school children are curious sponges. They are entertained with a podcast about science and they also learn something from it. Meerkats is such a podcast for curious children from 6 to 12 years old. Every episode, children ask really good questions and scientist Wendy Bos works with them to find the answers. With the podcast, children learn to think critically and independently and learn the process of gathering information. And that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. The episodes of Meerkats last about 10-15 minutes and the first season – with the subject of dinosaurs! – just went live.

The Crazy Podcast - about books

The Crazy Podcast - about books

This one is for the bookworms or the not-so-stingy readers. In The Crazy Podcast, children aged 6 to 12 talk about their favorite books. The enthusiastic stories are infectious and a large number of listeners want to read the book discussed afterwards. The aim of the podcast is to promote reading in young children. But even without that, the conversations are entertaining and endearing to listen to.

Sara's Mysteries - true crime

Sara's Mysteries - true crime

An incredibly successful – and oh so fun – podcast is Sara's Mysteries on Zapp. In this true crime show, Sara de Monchy works with children to investigate riddles in their lives. What's behind that hatch? And who are these strange neighbors anyway? They try to solve these mysteries through spying, tracking and searching. Very exciting for the whole family for two seasons now.

Extinguishing with your nose in it - about the fire brigade

Extinguishing with your nose in it - about the fire brigade

Extinguishing With Your Nose Er Tussen is about two commanders who extinguish fires and solve problems from their village of Kladderveen. In the Kladderveen barracks, commanders Jansen and De Vries decide to make a podcast. They conduct a fire brigade inspection at the Phoenix School, where they hear that Miss Pakmukkie Frie Frie de Sosobaja has been at home for a month due to a mysterious illness. And that Bas and Katinka from her class are arguing. Such a big fight that Bas raps about it. While the commanders are helping the school, the siren sounds. FIRE! The animals in the Stork Forest are in danger! Commander De Vries and her men move out. But before the fire has been extinguished, it turns out that all 2000 liters of water from the tanker have been used up... Will things still be okay in Kladderveen?

Remco Koffijberg wrote the script with inspiration from his experiences as a freelance educational expert at the fire brigade.
