House of Bird tasting room in Diemerbos is off to a flying start
It's a difficult one to let go: where oh where are we going to eat outside this summer? Where are the tables set up in the grass, can we find a spot in the shade and where do the farm animals roam around us? Ok, that last one is a bit of a stretch sometimes stretch maar you get what we are aiming at. We dedicate a (laundry) list to it: these are our favorite outdoor restaurants. One of those locations not to be missed is the new one tasting room House of Bird in the Diemerbos, opened by the people of the Bird Brewery brewery. A brewery, yes, specialty beers galore, and a heck of a terrace under whispering trees.
The Diemerbos you say? Yup. We have to admit that we didn't know it either, but it is a young forest three kilometers from Amsterdam East. The forest has a recreational function and House of Bird Diemerbos is the epi-center (or so we think). The tasting room is open seven days a week and is a place for young and old. A bit like Kraantje Lek, so to speak, but with beer and completely new.
There is a – quite – extensive drinks, lunch and dinner menu, so there really is something for everyone. Big and small, young and old, etc. The large terrace, including a sandpit for the little ones, can accommodate 200 people and reservations are not required. Not even possible. Inside there is room for 30 people reservation. In addition to catering, House of Bird also offers various rooms for up to 60 people for meetings, brainstorms, drinks and other events.
