Oh no! Tips for quarantine with children
Oh no, it seems inevitable at the moment to avoid a quarantine with children. Hoping that everyone feels good and the period indoors will be over quickly, there are other obstacles to overcome. Quarantine with children and work, how do you do that? We asked around to families who had previously been stuck indoors together for a week (or two). Your question is whether and for how long you should be quarantined? National government has one handy quarantine check. We share the great tips for the quarantine period here.
Have you had it as a parent? You will of course find a portion of escapism on our site. Like with this one beautiful cabins or for nicest glampings from Europe.
As we speak, the time has come. We are at home because of an infection through school. This can happen and the complaints will still not occur (knock on doors). We asked around for tips with all the other families we saw passing through the C-revue. And they came:
- As a precaution, you can probably get one Apply for DigiD for your little one. This application takes three days. After you have had a PCR test taken at the GGD, you can collect the results more quickly. Without DigiD you have to wait (sometimes a long time) until the GGD calls you with the results.
- Entering quarantine with the thought that this the best week is going to be. Even if it's just for the kids' state of mind. With the thought 'because he who looks cheerful in the morning, smiles all day long' the day often becomes a lot more pleasant indeed.
- Tip from a father: try to take time off. Working with children can be quite a challenge.
- Perhaps the best tip; make a daily schedule. This way everyone knows where he or she stands. Watching a movie for an hour also means not disturbing mom and dad for an hour so they can work. An hour of doing chores together in the house, cooking together, crafting, watching a movie here, working there, getting some fresh air and the day is over in no time.
- Older children can use this for (half) an hour Teams with school friends doing homework or joking together. This way they don't have to miss each other as much.
- Older children can entertain themselves better by doing school work, playing games or reading a book. If school work is not going well and this is causing too much stress at home, let it go. Stress isn't good for anyone right now.
- Doing chores together. Small children often enjoy helping adults with chores. Folding the laundry together (but not so neatly), watering the plants, cleaning windows, cooking or vacuuming. By doing it together, doing the housework suddenly becomes a lot more enjoyable and you can kill some time again.
- By far the most frequently given tip: more screen time. So get rid of that mom/dad guilt that your child spends too many hours watching movies while you get your work in order or want a moment for yourself. It's okay. We all do it.
- In that screen style, we are still tipped to take out a subscription Disney+, NPO of Amazon Prime to take. With some you get the first two weeks for free and then you can hopefully leave the house again.
- No screen time, but some time to relax: an audiobook. For example, via a subscription to Storytel. We also found it nice to take with us when traveling and for ourselves to listen to a book in the evening. Also during the quarantine, this is great entertainment to give the mini some rest time by listening to an exciting book.
- And then the physical activities: diamond painting, marble tracks building throughout the room, drawing on the windows, a scavenger hunt around the house, building huts and baking cakes.
