Save it for a rainy day: The better rainy entertainment (for kids)
It thunders and lightnings and it rains meters... Waaaater. Sometimes you have days like that. Raindrops tapping against the windows and water trickling from the gutters. And sometimes those days come as a gift; lounging on the couch and staying in the warmth and coziness of the house all day long. But. But with kids... Sigh. Then things are often a little different. Although we are quite used to this these days.Prepared. With what? With the very best (you wish that you could be a child again for a while) rain entertainment ever. Build cozy huts, picnic indoors and... you name it. Then you almost have to look forward to the next drizzly day according to the weather forecast. Here we go, rainy day!

Where we hardly use the printer at the office anymore, we recently bought an HP Envy at home for the kids, a compact and handsome (both in looks and content) home printer. Handsome in looks & content? Yes! About the looks: the printer is simply beautiful in all its simplicity and will not fail to impress in any interior, I promise. About the content: with the HP Envy you can print super easily from any device, including your phone! You connect your phone to the printer via an app and you're done! Even a (near) boomer can do this (of which note). And that's not all: HP consistently has the best collaborations with illustrators who - such as with Sinterklaas – especially for HP coloring pages and other printable crafts that you can print out super fast. And so another rainy Wednesday afternoon is saved! HP Envy printer
A sandbox in the middle of a café? You won't believe your eyes (at least we did). But it's real. Grand Cafe Turf, is the place to be with the kids during your shelter-from-the-rain days. Because with outdoor sandboxes in abundance, you have to do something when the weather doesn't allow for a game of sand. They came up with something about that at Turfhoorn. And yes, you can leave the mess there. In addition to fantastic entertainment for the kids, the Turfhoorn is also a nice place to simply enjoy a delicious cup of coffee, tea or wine (whatever you fancy). Nice chairs and benches and no more worrying about the kids. They're having fun anyway.
Is it holiday yet? Anyone who has to entertain the kiddos for a week, two weeks or even six, naturally hopes for beautiful weather so that we can take to the paths and avenues without any worries. On Go-Kids.nl (i.e. this site) you read at least one new article every week to do exactly that, and also keep it fun for yourself! But what if the weather is unexpectedly bad? Well, then you do some educational work and take the little stuff to the nicest museums in the country. Because, and you may not have known this, the Netherlands has a few museums that are not only very educational, but just as fun! These are our favorite museums in the Netherlands for kids.
Sometimes the setting is already half the story. Give us a theme and we will implement it down to the smallest details. Movie afternoon for the kids? Fine, but then we also completely convert the living room into a home theater. Rent a projector, arrange a popcorn machine and let the star of the afternoon direct the film.
Messing around in the kitchen together is always fun. You can bake cookies or decorate cakes, but making slime with the whole club is just as fun. Do a test beforehand, because it quickly becomes too watery or too sticky. It took us a lockdown to unravel the recipe, but it turns out to be a magical formula with lens fluid, shaving foam and baking soda. Google it. Oh and invest in some cool food coloring or glitter, because clear slime is boring. We have heard it said.
In it to win it? Exactly, there is nothing more fun than playing a game with the whole family on a rainy day. On a drizzly day, come the best games on the table.
Never throw away the cardboard delivery boxes again! The next time you have a big delivery, the cardboard box will be the most fun part of the delivery! With a little creativity, you and the kids can convert the box into a dog house, rocket, or flower. Come up with something, make it fun. It provides hours of crafting fun!
Also fun: use the large box and draw roads, forests and trees on it yourself – or whatever fantasy village comes to mind. Drawing is often the biggest fun for the girls, and racing over it in a car for the boys!
Nothing is simpler than having a picnic. Whether you do it outside the house or inside, anything is possible. As soon as the kids don't have to eat from the dining table, it's a party, just wait. Those kids are doing well. Collect all kinds of tasty picnic/lunch snacks, provide the floor with a rug and watch the so called lunch slowly disappears into children's bellies.
Bart Stays Inside, yes, but Bart has not fallen on his head and is thinking ahead. Especially when it comes to the little stuff and all the sad days that are sure to come. We must have entertainment! Preferably entertainment that will keep them busy for hours. Stock up now, so you don't miss out the heat is on. And thank us later.

You can tell us more, but if we remember anything from the past, it's how crazy it was when we were allowed to build huts. Real huts, to hide in and where you could carry books, pillows, games, and – importantly: something to eat. Hop, all the contents in your shaky house. And then have a picnic under the sheets. Something to munch on like Nutripops, straight from the container. Or, if moms don't want messes, one squeeze pouch (the one with apple and grains is a favorite here), also tasty. The favorite snacks of Mama Deli are also recommended. But the best part is sleeping in the tent of course! Isn't that okay, mom and dad? We think so. Maybe just a little while before school starts again? To unlearn staying at home! What tips & tricks for your home-tent-house optimal (and also attractive).
You would hardly believe it, but after that intensely long lockdown we have become quite good at the whole home entertainment thing. Reveal here we give our best tips. And here we have another whole list to select from.
Most parents still welcome inspiration to entertain the kids. Cooking or baking yourself with children remains a hit. Fun, tasty and educational. A little help makes it all that little bit easier and more fun. And as a bonus you get the messing around as a gift.
Cooking and baking with children: that can be tasty, fun and educational. Provided you approach it that way.
