Restaurant KIEN, a new pearl in Amsterdam West
You know them from those evenings when you go out with the motto: a very tasty main course and then immediately back again. back home and then flop on the couch at home. That was our plan this time too. Didn't work. Try it yourself... We couldn't manage not to just want much more at Restaurant KIEN in Amsterdam... Much more than just a main course.
Restaurant KIEN in Amsterdam west is clean, sleek and light. A bit Scandinavian, that's what it is. Various tables, round, square, chairs, benches and a regular table, all spread throughout the business. A handsome bar made of white Moroccan tiles. In addition to that handsome bar, there is an open kitchen and we like that, it is buzzing and people are working hard here, you can feel that. Also very nice: the large terrace Restaurant Kien, sun all day, when it comes back. We like.
Kien's men have worked at a number of well-known and popular businesses in Amsterdam, such as Scheepskameel restaurant, The Dylan, Hartering Brothers and more of that ilk) before these top players started their own business here. The service is passable. Warm, atmospheric and just very cozy. They know how it should be done and we like that. Kudos.
A small menu with only goodies, so tasty that it is difficult to choose. We don't mind, we would love to come back. Sea bream ceviche, Coeur de Boeuf tomato with feta, Scallops with Pancetta and a all-time favorite, steak tartare. For the main course, yes we said it already, it is difficult to choose, but if you like pork belly fan then please order it here. With the desserts you lick your fingers including the plate, you can't do anything about it. Chocolate freaks we are, so the brownie with warm chocolate mouse and cane sugar ice cream went down more than well.
By the way, you're in for lunch Witte de Withplein, where Restaurant Kien is located, also at the right place. Tasty sandwiches and rolls with tartare, crab salad and more. Tip: order one homemade lemonade from Oscar, or a good glass of wine on the advice of Joost or Bart.
The bar and drinks menu are also great. Just like in the old days at grandpa and grandma's birthday, filled eggs. We love it.
Over the years, the men of KIEN have not only developed a passion for good food, they are also not lagging behind when it comes to wines. Is that convenient? you know we love wine. Oscar the bartender is also good at it, good cocktails, tasty local beers and perfectly brewed coffees.
