A piece of Latin America in the Amsterdam Jordaan: restaurant Sins of Sal
Damn, that starts well: before we even sit down, there is a lady at our table who tells us that we need a cocktail and our neighbor, a regular guest as it turns out, swears quite persistently and persistently (read: there was still way out) with the Torta Libre, a sandwich dripping in fat with pork, nachos and cheese. Which, it must be said, is indeed delicious. Ah, we're there restaurant Sins of Sal in the Amsterdam Jordaan aka a 'piece of Latin America' in the capital. A piece, yes, because the place is small. That shouldn't spoil the fun: it is cozy and cozy and the bites are ideal for grabbing a bite and moving on (and making room for the next one). Not that that is necessarily a good idea: playing the whole card is also a good idea.
And even more fine Mexican and Latin American restaurants in Amsterdam.
Sins of Sal is the newest member of the Uzcudun brothers, known for their Latin American restaurant and mezcaleria Salmuera. Good news: the brothers know how to run a cool holiday-style spot and make you feel like you're somewhere in Brazil or Chile in one evening. Absolutely great, and that also applies to those aforementioned cocktails and the surprising menu.
Anyway, the tone has been set: at Sins of Sal in Amsterdam they know the ropes and how to entertain their audience - again nice, staff who clearly enjoy their work. And then you'll soon catch us. That doesn't mean it's food Sins or Sal is of secondary importance, certainly not: the menu is one melting pot of Cuban, Brazilian, Caribbean and Tex-Mex-esque influences, with exciting oysters (not just salty, no, oysters tempura style with coriander-lime mayo or with mushroom and chipotle glaze and a substance that stains your clothes without - and this is important - raping the oyster. Okay, a little, but it is so tasty that it is allowed just this once). And further? Tacos, more than tender spare ribs, spicy black pudding and fresh salads on the side, everything sparklingly explosively flavored. Super snacks to keep you busy for an evening. Works out well: the kitchen of Sins of Sal in Amsterdam is open until the wee hours.
Oh and good to know, because good people: Sins of Sal is related @sal_ams @chamuyero_ams.
