Rotate Amsterdam: eating and dancing (almost) on Leidseplein

Restaurant – although that is actually an oversimplification: the establishment is much more than just a place to eat, but more on that later – Rotate opened in early June 2026 around the corner from Leidseplein, on the site of the former Café in the City on Kleine Gartmanplantsoen. The delightful boudoir-style establishment is partly owned by the same people who also run Jondani (and they, in turn, are the kids of the owners of Parco Ibiza, good people!).

So, Rotate is more than just good food and drink (because there is absolutely that too), but finally one of those places where you stick around for a dance move or three. Hits. Hooray. As the evening progresses, a DJ takes over the tempo and the restaurant subtly changes from fine dining to dance to (and flirt – it is certainly that kind of place too). Exactly what we are in the mood for more and more these days: everything in one place where everything is good and cozy. From the kitchen comes a classic French base combined with Asian influences.

From sashimi and nigiri to premium Japanese wagyu and king crab. But you certainly come to drink too: the wine list features around 250 wines and there is a sake list with twenty different houses, curated with master sake sommelier Menno Tol. Bam. In terms of atmosphere and decor: the interior was designed with Woodfever. Lots of dark red marble, chrome details, rich fabrics, and warm oak make everything luxurious and a touch bourdon. There is a small terrace too! Although we mainly hang out at Rotate Amsterdam in the evening.
