24 Hours in Stockholm: The Best of the City
Whatever the reason you (only) one day in Stockholm you, make sure it is a good 24 hours. While we definitely recommend you come back again (the city has more to offer than you can see in one day), we've put together a little list of the things you'll definitely want to do if you're short on time. This is how you experience Stockholm in one day.

We're not sure where, when, who invented these sweet rolls, but we wouldn't be surprised if it was a Swede and that person lived in Stockholm. The city is a true mecca for kanelbullar lovers.
If you go to Stockholm for one day, a kanelbullar is part of it. For breakfast (normal) or during coffee (in Sweden they call that coffee moment a 'Fika'). And for the tastiest, go to one of the many great bakeries in the city. And there are quite a few.
Gamla Stan is one of the highlights of the city. The narrow, old streets are fun to stroll through.
Be sure to turn left or right from the long tourist street (Västerlånggatan) to discover the better spots. You will also find the narrowest street there: Mårten Trotzig gränd (90 centimeters at the narrowest part).
Pass by Chokladlopen on the main square near the Nobel Prize Museum for a – you guessed it – amazing cup of hot chocolate. And be sure to check out the nice little shops, galleries and beautiful churches.

From the old town, you can easily walk to the south island: Södermalm. A lovely part of the city to stroll through (or around) if you're staying in the city for a while, but for those who are in Stockholm for a day, we recommend Monteliusvagen.
A street in an old part of the city where you are treated to a great view of the northern part of the city. You can look across the water towards the Stadshuset (tip!). A perfect place to take some beautiful pictures.
You can also enjoy a delicious cup of coffee here Lykke and for some energy you go to slice shop 800 degrees.
Saluhallen, or food halls, can be found in every major city in Sweden. The Östermalms Saluhall is the food hall of Stockholm. The food in the hall is quite pricey, so don't be alarmed, but it is very tasty.
You will find all kinds of typical Swedish dishes (smörgås, kötbullar and lots of fish) and sweets. Nice to walk through and have lunch. You will also find its famous restaurant there Lisa Elmqvist, for the best seafood in town (hearsay).

Stockholm boasts some of the best museums, so there's truly something for everyone. Several are located just outside the city, such as Artipelag, an art museum.
Staying in the city? Visit the Fotografiska, Vasa Museum of Viking Museum (you can also buy a combination ticket for the last two). Tip: After your visit, walk through beautiful Djürgården for your daily dose of Swedish nature.
Take the metro back to lovely Södermalm and end your day with a good portion of meatballs. Sweden's first and only meatball restaurant.
They make handmade, organic meatballs from local meat (also vegetarian!). Swedish style, with mashed potatoes and jam. Enjoy your meal!
