This must be the nicest hotel in Zeeland (Netherlands!): Strandhotel Cadzand Bad
"Let's book a weekend by the sea!". Good plan. There's a good chance that you think of Scheveningen, Zandvoort, one of the Wadden Islands or possibly Domburg in the Netherlands, right? Shame! Because one of the nicest beach hotels in the whole of the Netherlands is located right (but literally) on the beach in Zeeland. Beach hotel Cadzand-Bad is the name, can't miss it. Cadzand-Bad? More oui! An unsurpassed coastal town in our own country with the wonderful mundane atmosphere that comes with Knokke, a little further away, combined with the down-to-earth atmosphere of the Netherlands. The best of both worlds and the wildly attractive Strandhotel forms the unmissable epi-center.
We hardly know where to start cheering. So at the beginning: who it is Zeeland Cadzand-Bad When you enter, you cannot help but agree that it is a seaside resort that cannot be compared to any other, thanks to a number of stately buildings with an exterior with woodwork that is normally reserved for Scandinavian countries. And that is surrounded by nature: green on the left, the sea on the right. Ah. Holiday.
A holiday from the books, that is: on the one hand, nothing at all. Feet in the sand, get a breath of fresh air, sunbathe, wander around the dunes and enjoy an ice cream. On the other hand, dress yourself (and/or your loved one) up in an old-fashioned way for dinner: put on a dress or Sunday suit, wear heels, polish your shoes, put on a jacket... Go. Enjoy yourself take care of and then rolling upstairs into your wonderful Auping bed. Two in one, that is also Strandhotel Cadzand-Bad.
Or well… Two-in-one… Actually, it’s six-in-one! Because Strandhotel Cadzand boasts not one, not two, but four fantastic restaurant concepts! And then you add the hotel itself to that. Each and every one is highly recommended, but we’ll get back to that in a moment. First, that bed, which is made to perfection:
You can read on, but you can also book immediately, because it deserves it Beach hotel Cadzand. If you do that, be sure to look at the Tower suite: a dream by the sea. The room is over 50 m² in size, there are two balconies (one with a view of the marina and the other with a frontal sea view) and it is furnished with beautiful Piet Boon furniture. One or two little ones with you? Hop, then on to one of the family rooms or suites. These are spacious, there are two bedrooms and the suites have two balconies overlooking the pleasant boulevard. Dogs are not welcome in the suites, but you can see on the website - how useful - exactly where they are, because they are allowed.
To increase your choice stress a bit: nowadays you can also opt for 'Stranded' choose: that is sleeping on a boat, in the marina of Cadzand-Bad! Snooze while the water ripples beneath… Ah, you've already left. We understand.
One of the nicest things is the neutral yet distinctly warm color palette throughout the hotel. All shades of white, beige, brown and black for a calm, relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are of the same caliber: beautiful, without unnecessary fuss, but warm and attractive. And with a heck of an Auping bed. Also not unimportant.
Strandhotel Cadzand-Bad in a nutshell? Unwind and disconnect from the daily grind and treat yourself to a Michelin-star meal. Yoga on your balcony with the churning sea behind you, or a champagne for two overlooking the marina. Or endless walks including a 0-shit-forgotten-phone-in-your-room little hideout (everything nice and close). Unparalleled dining in one of the hotel's four (!) restaurant concepts versus turning over for another nap.
Dining is quite a thing Beach hotel Cadzand-bad: there are not one, not two, but no fewer than four places where you can go for hunger and thirst, and truth be told: you should actually try them all. That starts at the breakfast restaurant Pine House. You won't miss it anyway and don't tell anyone: Pine House is also recommended if you happen to be in the area. Here you can read all about the Pine House.
We don't want to blow you away with all kinds of superlatives, but the fact is that we are very enthusiastic about all the dining options that are part of Strandhotel Cadzand-Bad. Beach Boy Restaurant en Beach Boy Terrace for example: the boys of course they belong together, but they are definitely presented at a different time. They sit in a sleek, modern design pavilion, from which you look out over the masts of the boats and ships in the marina. Looking out over the sea and the beach of Cadzand, with its head on the North Sea wind. At the second, Beach Boy Terrace, you sit on the terrace, of course - don't panic: in bad weather you sit under the canopy, and there are even a few very cozy seats inside. Even if the terrace – what's in a name – of course really what you come for.

Not only is it a great place to sit with a view of the beach, the sea and the harbor of Cadzand (it is a short and lovely walk from the hotel, along the beach, or who knows, you can borrow the available golf carts - party!) , but we thought every dish was perfect. From the spicy sandwich (the way we like it), the crayfish croquettes and the quiche with shrimps. Plate licked clean. Oh, and go for the chardonnay – we immediately ordered a box of this for home upon our return. And that's saying quite a bit. If you come later in the day, make a reservation at Beach Boy Restaurant. That restaurant is, of course, behind the terrace. That means: the same view over the harbor, but sheltered and a more than excellent tip all year round.
casual dining here, with dishes from the large wood-fired oven on the à la carte menu, and - in addition - a focus on fish, crustaceans and shellfish. Both boys only use local seasonal ingredients - straight from the sea on your doorstep, and from the local farmer, everything straight to your (beautifully presented) plate, and you can taste it! Oh, one more thing: use Beach Boy Terrace as your local caterer: inside the oysters, sausages and sauce for home (or for your hotel balcony, or the beach...) beckon.
Yes, 100% 10 points for the Beach Boys, but then we also have to update you on that Bar Forty Nine which you will find at the rear of the lobby, a bit hidden behind glass doors with curtains. The dark hotel bar is exactly what it should be: a dark cocktail bar where the tastiest drinks and excellent snacks are served - the Strandhotel clearly has a ball to uphold when it comes to the inner person, and they do so with verve!

First of all: Zeeland is beautiful. A unique part of the Netherlands. The fresh sea air recharges and the village feeling of 'nothing for a while' gives energy for the rest of the month. The Zwin, an old shipping channel that now provides space for animals, is a unique nature reserve on the border between the Netherlands and Belgium. The ancient tradition of looking for shark teeth still exists here! We like it. Also nice: both the fashionable Belgian Knokke and the cozy one Sluis are around the corner. And if you want to go to the city, you can be in Bruges in 20 minutes. Beautiful shops, inspiring galleries and delicious restaurants versus challenging nature. And did you know that Zeeland Flanders is known for its wine growing? Is so. Wijngaard 't Biezenhof is located 17 km from Cadzand and is easily accessible by bicycle.
And then of course there are always the surfers who catch a wave when the water is at its roughest and the waves crash into the marina of Cadzand-bad - again: Cadzand has it all, and you simply have to stay at the Strandhotel. Ow: a ride in one of the electro- mobile (golf carts in common parlance) is an experience in itself. You can rent them per day (or half days).
