With the first beautiful days of the year we can officially kick off the Dutch beach season! But when it comes to choosing which beach bar and when, we are usually stumped. Can't-choose-can't. Because the Netherlands is one of the countries worldwide with the best, most pronounced beach club culture; Almost nowhere can you enjoy such a Burgundian experience on the coast as in our own country. We think so. But still, a knife to the throat: a selection of our favorite beach bars for 2025. For the early summer birds: check when the beach bars open their doors.

Northwijk:
But of course we know beach bar Tulum in Noordwijk, but why not head the other way along the Noordwijk Zeereep for a change? That's where you'll find a much lesser-known but equally fun and good-looking beach friend: De Koele Costa. No bullshit here, and hardly any of that staring and being stared at that many beach bars have (blegh), but a relaxed energy and a menu just as a beach bar should be: really tasty homemade tuna salad and a huge hamburger. Go on over there and snag a spot quickly; you can thank us later. Chances are you won't want to leave, and that works out perfectly right now: De Koele Costa also rents out a few super cute beach cottages. Sure, they are always full. Remember that well and book now for next summer. You'll really hit the jackpot.
Tucked away in the Noordwijk South Dunes with a panoramic view of the North Sea, that is where Beachclub C sits. A holiday feeling is what the people at 'C' want to convey, and they succeed well with the palm trees, the swimming pool with sun loungers, and beautiful large windows. Oh, and definitely don't forget the handsome parasols with red scalloped edges – it's all in the details.
You can stop by for drinks, with a tasty beverage from the extensive cocktail or wine list. But what really makes you want to come? A BBQ on the beach, a wedding, a beach party, or an awesome event. At Beachclub C, you can organize all sorts of things yourself or 'participate in'. Is your birthday coming up or are you planning a wedding, for example? So keep that in mind.
One of the most beautiful beach bars, together with Hippie Fish, not entirely surprising because it is from the same owners who also run the equally nice Witsand and de Branding. Tulum (we may say Tulum) is a beautiful beach house (always a winner) where everything goes well. The place can be rented privately because then of course there is always Witsand. But if there is no party in sight, everyone can enjoy the beautiful Bali-meets-Scandinavian good-looking chairs, benches and seats collapse. And the bed. Oh that bed. Can we do that? copy-paste for at home?
We obviously don't need to tell you that you're in for a treat at De Branding for breakfast, lunch, or dinner with a sea view. But what makes us so happy is the delightful bohemian vibe that greets you immediately upon entering. To start with: a beautiful greenhouse. Parasols with streamers, lots of greenery, palm trees, lounge sofas, and relaxed Ibiza tunes all come together here at De Branding in Noordwijk. If you really have to (and you really do), you can stay there all day. Sit back comfortably on the terrace and take a dip in the sea. Smoothie or cocktail in one hand and a snack in the other. Nothing more to do.
Bloemendaal aan Zee:
Republic of Bloemendaal was given a completely new look a while ago and got a different one cool.
And us? We are FANS! Fan in the summer, but also a fan in the winter. It is a stylish place where you would like to be, with or without children and with or without dogs.
And also nice, you don't have to say goodbye to this awesome beach bar, because they are open all year round.
Zandvoort:
We already said that we can't really pick a favorite, but if we were to, Bodhi would be a very strong contender. It is very here laid-back, no hassle and absolutely different from the many just-too-trendy beach bars in Zandvoort. Yes! It takes a bit of searching, because Bodhi is located just outside the hustle and bustle of the boulevard, hidden among the dunes, but that is precisely what makes the place so charming. What do we order? Preferably a whole heap of small bites to fill the table. Prefer something else? Then the sandwiches for lunch are also great, and in the evening we won't say no to the beef tenderloin skewer or the Bouillabaisse Hollandaise. Add a summery spritz or mocktail, and your day is complete.
National vibes On the beach – welcome to Beach Barn. A beach walk? Then make Beach Barn your starting point to set off with fresh Buns from the bakeryThere is an extensive menu for lunch and dinner, with good sandwiches, salads and dishes such as shellfish, noodle soup, burgers and ravioli. So, something for everyone. In terms of looks: handsome! Mature, with classic and earthy elements. The atmosphere is wonderfully cozy and beachy.
Your Italian friend at the beach You can find “Piatti” on the beach in Zandvoort. And it is a very handsome one at that. A great spot for a piece of Italy on our own coastline. Italian shared dining here. The tent is pitched at an angle, giving you a completely different perspective on the beach—quite a laugh. Perfect for a nice breakfast, lunch, dinner, or drinks. And there’s more: you can also sleep there. Few things scream holiday spirit quite like waking up on the beach.
Hey, hello, Kayuca Zandvoort. Such a spot on the most popular piece of Dutch sea sand where everything goes according to the beige colored book, but in the best possible way.
Anyway: better a good neighbor than a distant friend: Kayuca Zandvoort is nestled between Hippie Fish and Ubuntu, pretty much the most popular beach bars of recent years. The menu at Kayuca Zandvoort is by no means 'average': truly tasty dishes that will make you really happy. Promised.
Ah, one of the most popular, Hippie FishThe owners once learned the ropes at beach bar Ubuntu. The food is remarkably good (certainly for a beach bar) and the place is above all beautiful. And therefore deservedly popular. What also helps is that it is one of the best spots in the country that is easy to reach by train from Amsterdam. For that reason, Noordwijk or Bergen, for example, are secretly just a bit nicer (because you have to put in a little more effort to get there), but taking the train is a blackIf so, then Hippie Fish is your answer. Need a moment to check it out? Do it at Easter. Or just every Sunday. Perfect with the kids too. You can send them to the beach afterwards. Win-win. Anything else on the menu? That good yet healthy beach stuff, like you know from Ubuntu, but just a little different.
Okay, let's also do the other one we were just talking about. Ubuntu. A wonderful, nothing-to-happen place in Zandvoort. And no, don't turn your nose up at Zandvoort now. Precisely because so many people do that, it is wonderful to hang out on Zandvoort beach, especially just outside 'the season', during the evening hours, around sunset when the kids have to go home and the best time of the day arrives or when the weather is actually nice. mains is off and the heater can be turned on.
Like with Ubuntu Beach. Wood, simple chairs, good food and swings, on the deck and on the sand. Inside the fire is burning whenever possible, outside the music is thundering (no technohouseelectrohoempapa), with luck on the menu a delicious mixed starter or go for one of the Sandwiches with rendang, ribeye, or falafel, for example. And it's easy to reach by train, too. Oh, and the atmosphere is top-notch.
Zandvoort is also called 'Amsterdam Beach'… Okay, that's fine. We get it: it is of course also the beach that you can reach fairly quickly from Amsterdam by train and that is exactly what we do regularly. Then sit down at the most popular beach bars on the Zandvoort sand. You know them... Hippie Fish, Ubuntu, the new Kayuca and Tijn Akersloot is also participating. It's fun, but what is much (much!) more fun is the discovery of a quiet, unknown beach bar on one of the most popular stretches of beach in the Netherlands.
A bit of Ibiza, just in your own country. Zandvoort to be precise. You get the idea. Relaxed atmosphere, ultimate enjoyment and also delicious food. You can relax here on one of the lounge sofas and enjoy the sunset with a nice glass of wine. But you can also come here for cozy drinks, birthdays, company parties and more. We are fan.
We like to serve up a portion of good news, and this is one in that category. The iconic beach pavilion Tijn Akersloot in Zandvoort has reopened after a major renovation. A huge amount of love went into it, and no corner was overlooked. We’ll continue for a moment, but we can already reveal that the new Tijn is out of ten is. On the enormous terrace, you almost always have a chance of finding a spot. The outdoor bar is open for a quick snack (spit-roasted chicken, cheese croquettes) and a cold beer. Unique for a beach bar is the coffee: there is a killer espresso machine (La Marzocco) and Morning Glory beans on the grinder. The kitchen is run by Tjalling de Goede (known from Europizza) and Thijs Steur (the man who previously held sway at Vuurtoreneiland), so you know it’s good. Serious work is put into seasonal vegetables here, and cooking is done over an open fire.
Noosa It is fun and one hundred percent worth popping in for. A typical Australian surf vibe comes to the fore, not only in the decor (rattan, surfboards, and wicker, you know the drill) but also in what you put in your mouth. All incredibly delicious dishes that make you dream of the Australian coasts.
The Hague/Scheveningen:
Dunes Kijkduin is a relatively new beach club on the Dutch coast – stylish, relaxed, and exactly what you’re looking for when the sun comes out (or even when it isn’t). Think boho vibes meets easy-going luxury, with sea views and a menu you’re always in the mood for.
You can pull up a chair for coffee, lunch, dinner, or just a glass of wine with some beach bites. From smash burgers and Caesar salad to sea bream and pasta arrabiata: the menu is a mix of all-time faves with a Mediterranean twist. Bonus points for the interior: warm tones, fine fabrics, natural materials. The terrace? Summery, always. Even when it rains.
Can you catch the sun in the Netherlands? Then go to Beach club Birds. Will make you happy. With a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, an attractive interior and a delicious menu, this is really recommended. Also nice, at least we think: dogs are allowed here. Just keep them on a leash, it's nice to your fellow guests.
Pssst, don't tell anyone else, but this is a nice spot on the Scheveningen beach! Xiringuito Scheveningen is the name, and who is Spanish xiringuito's scene a little knows what to expect. Okay, that's not entirely true: a true Spanish xiringuito is nothing more than a simple hut on the beach, a few beach chairs around it and an ice-cold Mahou on the counter. In the Scheveningen equivalent of the concept, things are a little more extensive: it is a full-fledged beach bar, with a large terrace and surprisingly (!) good food. Why we understand that name: the atmosphere at Xiringuito Scheveningen is friendly, which gives the small-scale feeling and the super chill beach vibe just really we fleek are. Extra bonus point for the good house wine.
Beach tent Barbarossa is rock solid. A bit too much of the Ibiza goodness perhaps, but whether you like it or not: the place is beautiful on the outside and on the inside. Lots of white, lots of wood, lots of leather, a fireplace and a good dollop navy blueblue. The Barbarossakitchen serves fusion dishes from traditional Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. That's nice. At most a little on the expensive side, but hey, that's what Barbarossa is not your average beach tent. Make a reservation. Open now!
Wadden Islands:
Our favorite beach pavilion on Texel has to be Standpaviljoen Kaap Noord, at the northernmost point of the island. Not that all the other piers aren't nice, far from it, but Kaap Noord has a few pluses. Such as the view of Vlieland, the photogenic wooden pier, the sea that seems (or is?) calmer there, the relaxed playlist The place is full of memorable tunes, and when the weather is bad, you are exceptionally comfortable in the hanging chairs by the fireplace or on the sheepskins at the bar or the colorful tables.
On a Wadden island, you naturally have a choice of several great beach clubs. In terms of interior, Beach Club Texel is certainly one of the nicest on Texel. The stand with blue and white tones is the key For that natural beach feeling. Open not only in summer, but also every day in winter. It won't surprise you, but the menu is inspired by the island (big fat like), With a strong focus on fish and local produce, but with a fresh twist. You come here not only for the beautiful beach and the stunning view, but also because it's simply good. It's also a great place for a party, or to rent it out entirely.
Just like Texel, Terschelling is a holiday resort where you feel a bit abroad during the summer months. That foreign feeling is further enhanced at the Green Beach of Terschelling The whale reservations are not taken, but there is plenty of playing games and a superb burger.
You will find Ameland on the extreme western tip of Wadden Island Beach club The Sunset. Plop down on a lounge sofa on the terrace, enjoy the really tasty dishes and drink a cocktail made with love while enjoying the view of the wide North Sea beach with a summery backdrop in the background. beats that flow from the speakers. The Sunset is called the Ibiza of the North Sea for a reason!
We'll stay on the Wadden Islands for a while longer. Texel to be precise, and Peek aan Zee to be even more precise. It's located at Paal 15. Peek aan Zee is simply a nice, no-nonsense place. A bit of a six-in-a-dozen, but It doesn't need to be anything more. Especially not with that endless beach right in front of you. The food is great, the seating is comfortable, and the sunsets are magnificent. That's all good enough. During the winter months, they have a Christmas pavilion, which makes it extra cozy. Add some mulled wine, and we're in for a wonderful time.
Het Badhuys, Vlieland, a beach pavilion as it should be with sun loungers and seats in front of the wooden facade that has grayed from the sea salt. It is best to lounge in the cotton beach chairs in front of the door and when the sun sets in the sea and the sky turns pink above the wide, white beach, everything is in perfect order. Oh, and nacho chips from the oven with melted cheddar, cream cheese, tomato salsa and guacamole, they have those too. And also open all year round.
Neighborhood by the Sea:
Aloha AND Timbuktu, Wijk aan Zee. Yes, two in one. Because Aloha has been widely praised since its reopening after the fire (top design, top food, top service), we do not want to do justice to our neighbors Timbuktu. The beach bars Timbuktu and Aloha can be found on the beach of Velzen-Noord. That is, if you have transportation. Walking or public transport is not an option, and not everyone finds the smoke ovens along the beach equally attractive. But perhaps that is precisely why this stretch of Dutch coast attracts so many relaxed beachgoers. Not too difficult, friendly crowd, one of the widest beaches in the country and your dog is welcome, provided it is on a leash. You can lie back and people watch at Timbuktu, which is actually the nicest of the two, but you can also enjoy delicious food at the adjacent Aloha.
Aloha and Timbuktu are open all year round.
Really, we understand that you go to Aloha (or the neighbors) if Wijk aan Zee (Velzen Noord) is your destination. But be crazy and move to The Hang Out, a super relaxed beach bar with a kitesurfing school and the best dance nights, uh, on the sand. Uncomplicated place, good food, good people.
Corner of Holland:
Pele Surf Shack is located in the surfer area of Hoek van Holland, you know, on the coast of Rotterdam. Pele Surf Shack isn't just a lovely place to spend a summer day… They are also the first completely plant-based beach bar in the Netherlands. Cool.
Inspired by the wonderful Bali and its surf culture of course, what else. At Uluwatu Beachclub, you can enjoy a wonderful summer day and then end the day with dinner. You have also come to the right place for a great start to the day or a delicious lunch. Off to Bali, uhh, Uluwatu Beachclub.
Castricum:
For the whole day, but even more importantly: for the whole year, for twelve months, seven days a week. Moreover, Club Zand is such an attractive address from the beach tent books: a bit of hippie, a touch of boho, some white wash here and especially a lot of informality there. You can hang out in the rattan (hanging) chairs in front of the door, with a view of the sea. Apart from the stunning looks Club Zand is a favorite because the beach pavilion is part of Castricum aan Zee, also called Bakkum aan Zee. Not a real seaside resort like Zandvoort or Noordwijk aan Zee - no one lives there and there is no boulevard - and therefore it is generally much less densely populated. Beach, forest, dunes and Club Zand, that's all. And a cold beer.
And, they love dogs at Club Zand. Which makes us love Club Zand even more.
Beachbar & Restaurant Zeezicht (the first pavilion on the left on Castricum aan Zee) is open all year round. So great! Because we love winter walks by the sea. Get a fresh red nose and then enjoy a hot chocolate or a good snack board. Even in winter there is always going on at Zeezicht, from tastings and events to fun live music. You can also have a nice lunch or dinner there. Of course it is also nice to relax in the summer sun with your feet in the sand. Oh, and don't forget: you can also get married there. Isn't it crazy, the most beautiful day of your life under the starry sky with only the sound of the waves in the background. Well, Zeezicht is just one of those places where you always want to go and never want to leave.
In the dunes of Castricum you have to go where secretly the first guests have already stayed in what is undoubtedly the most handsome is the country's coastal hotel. The place is run by the folks from restaurant/beach pavilion Zoomers, who, with three branches of their establishment, know exactly how to do it: welcome guests, pamper them, and ensure everyone walks out the door satisfied. And there, on the beach in Castricum, you will also find the beach pavilion with the same name: Zoomers. But then Strandpaviljoen Zoomers, you get the idea. Just as lovely a place.
Turn right along the path, continue all the way until there are no more stone slabs and the footpath turns into sand. Then you are in the right place. Namely, at Deining. An incredibly attractive beach bar where the pizzas from the brick oven are a lure. Besides the fact that it is very cozy and warm inside (because of the bad weather) (because of the fireplace inside), the beach district is even more fun to be in. When the weather is nice, you literally sit with your feet in the sand and enjoy the sun on your porem for hours.
Zealand:
Do you remember our story about De Botanist in Breda? No? You can here read it again quietly. After all, Breda is nice, but Breda is even more fun when it moves to the sea. And so it happened in the case of De Botanist: a 45-minute drive from the city center of 076, near Dishoek, De Botanist aan zee opened. The same relaxed plant-vibes but on the beach – just say no to that.
At beach club Perry's is a real holiday hangoutvibeAnd we’re certainly not shy about that! The dishes take you to different parts of the world. Figuratively speaking, of course! From Mexican fajitas and Schnitzel “South America” to giant spare ribs and more goodies. Enjoy the sun with a glass of wine on the terrace lounge sofas. We think it sounds good.
We don't want to blow you away with all kinds of superlatives, but the fact is that we are very enthusiastic about all the dining options that are part of Strandhotel Cadzand-Bad. ARASHI Restaurant en ARASHI Foodbar For example: these two naturally belong together, but present absolutely a different meal. They are seated in a sleek, modern design pavilion, from where you look out over the masts of the boats and ships in the marina. Looking out over the sea and the beach of Cadzand, with his face into the North Sea wind. At the second, ARASHI Foodbar You sit, naturally on the terrace – don't panic: in less favorable weather you sit under the canopy, and there are even a few very cozy seating areas inside. Although the terrace is, of course, really what you come for.

From the beach, you look out over the always beautiful North Sea, and in the distance, you can see Vlissingen. It will come as no surprise that you are guaranteed to be in the right place here after a lovely walk along the beach.
Other South Holland:
Maybe it’s just us, but… Ouddorp is boomingWe really find one great spot after another there. Ouddorp is the place to be this summer! Beach bar? Then we choose Bula. Beach bar Bula Ouddorp It is, basically, just exactly right and, as they say themselves (and we gladly agree), THE place in (and around) Ouddorp to share a bite, a drink, and tall tales with your amigos. Good looks, good food, good people, and sand between your toes. We couldn't ask for anything more.
Other North Holland:
Strandvier (open from April 1 to October 1) Being a beach bar by a lake that is just right is one of the reasons why we want to go even more often. Strandvier (yes, that’s written as one word) is located in Hemmeland, a large green area right next to Monnickendam, and was built entirely by the owners themselves. A real gem. labor of love, if you will. The products the chefs work with are largely local and attention is paid to sustainability: no large-scale production here. tourist trap but a wonderful, honest place with Mediterranean food from the Argentinian barbecue (which was also built in-house; it doesn't get any crazier).
Bergen aan Zee, oh so nice, also because you can immediately grab l'Etoile and Hotel Blooming, just saying. But supremerelaxed it is at beach tent The boys: nothing to worry about to perfection and in a clever way: cozy interior, good prices for a nice menu. Just do it, those boys.
Also fun for the kids (and you can join in too), you can also surf at De Jongens. From surf lessons to board en wetsuit rent, all options are possible.

We love it when we discover a lesser-known gem in a less hyped place that still ticks all the boxes when it comes to an undeniably wonderful beach bar. Light shades, plants everywhere, that feeling of a summer breeze on a warm day... Well, that is exactly what Evi Beach Egmond aan Zee brings.
Ok you got us. These two 'beach' tents don't sit on a beach with a wavy sea in the background. It is located on the water in Hoofddorp with a beach vibe. The ideal place to stay on a hot summer day. Super relaxed on the terrace overlooking the water between the trees with delicious food. That's what we want and that's what these two beach bars offer.

We love Vinkeveen! It is beautiful, it is quiet and there are many pearls to discover. The perfect combination: Just check in at the harbor houses of Zwier in a small marina less than 20 minutes from Amsterdam (east). If you do that, sail to the left out of the harbor and discover Wander Island Vinkeveen. You moor and walk straight to the 'beach bar' with its own beach.
