In this show, eight Dutch celebrities compete against each other in the battle for the 'Best secondhand stylist van Netherlands' title. TV producer Lauren has been crazy about vintage clothing since childhood. After the TV program, she decided she wanted to do more with it than just as a hobby. Not just a new one cool, also a new coupe. Frou Frou is a hair salon and vintage shop in one. You could easily pass by the basement on the Kloveniersburgwal (a shame), so be extra careful. Frou-Frou is run by two sisters. One sister sits in the shop behind the sewing machine, the other cuts and colors your hair. And they both sell (and select) clothing. Not only the clothes are colorful, the hairstyles that are cut here are also delicious extra (just trimming the tips is fine too, by the way). Blue, pink, leopard print… nothing is too crazy. An extra nice touch is that you can get a very cheap one here (19 euros) frou frou (bangs) can be cut.
The Collection One is The one and only Lisa Schotman's shop. Lisa personally selects all the clothing she sells and only sells items she would want to wear herself. And not just in terms of style, but also when it comes to quality. All labels are carefully checked and all shirts are washed before being hung in the shop. Besides vintage, The Collection One also sells clothing from a number of sustainable brands. At the time of writing, there is no physical location, but we hope that Lisa and her clothing will soon move back into a place in Amsterdam.
Figo Vintage It recently opened its doors in an old factory hall of no less than 1000m² in Amsterdam-Noord. Yes, it is big, very big, but because everything is well organized, shopping here is a lot less overwhelming than you might expect. Just be careful not to find yourself standing in front of a closed door, as Figo is closed from Monday to Wednesday.
Vintage Marbles is exactly what comes to mind when you think of a vintage store. Full racks, lots of color, prints and of course that typical smell. Marbles Vintage has three locations in the city. One on the Haarlemmerdijk (that street is definitely recommended, not just for vintage), one in the Pijp and one in the Staalstraat. The range is varied and the shops are open seven days a week.
Fifty shades of gray and beige with a touch of color here and there. If there's a shop in the booth 'esthetic'It fits ENSŌ vintage. In the studio on the Elandsgracht, clothing is not only sold but also entertained. At ENSŌ there are classic, minimalist (designer) items of high quality. Every now and then with a twist (because it's entertaining), always stylish.
ENSŌ is not the only vintage store in the 9 Streets. Episode, one of the most famous chains for vintage, also has a branch there. Just like Zipper, which has been around since 1979. Bee With Us mainly contains clothing from the 70s and 80s Laura Dolls they go back a little further in time (50s). Just like Frou-Frou is also Indiana Road Run by two sisters. Romy and Débra started selling vintage clothing in 2014 and now have a physical store as well. Some of the clothing is also sold via Instagram and Etsy, but if you want to see everything, it is really best to visit the shop on Kinkerstraat. Besides clothing, you can also find bags, (handmade) jewelry, plants, cards, and sustainable makeup here. Thanks to all of that (hello window display full of plants), the shop looks extra cozy.
