Why Samaipata should be at the top of your Bolivia list

Maybe it doesn't mean anything to you yet (google it) but believe us: the village Samaipata in Bolivia, at an altitude of 1640 meters, you don't want to miss it. No hordes of tourists, but charming streets and green hills that you instant Peace and quiet, and a climate that almost always cooperates. Stray dogs? Yes, they're plentiful. But dangerous? Absolutely not. They bark more than they bite, and are often surprisingly pleasant company during your walk.

Start your day at Cafe TangoOrganic coffee from the Samaipata Valley, a colorful interior, and plenty of vegetarian and vegan options to keep you happy.

Anyone who wants to go all out can join us Casa CharoHoly moly, this is fine dining Bolivian style. A tasting menu that celebrates the seasons, a wood and glass interior, and views of the greenery. Here, you'll taste not only the dishes themselves, but also the care and love that went into creating them.

For a quick bite in the evening you should go to Tacos y Tés are, the stall next to the church. Fresh tacos with mint tea for less than €2,50 (!).

If you want to be completely zen, go to Finca La Víspera, just outside the city center. An oasis of tranquility, with healthy and pure food. It doesn't get any fresher than this. We're fans and have written about it before: Finca La Víspera: a hidden gem in Samaipata, Bolivia.

Tip: Many restaurants are closed from Sunday to Tuesday, so plan your culinary stops wisely.

Oh, and wine. Yes, Bolivia makes wine. And how! In Samaipata, you're in the heart of one of South America's youngest yet most promising wine regions. Don't expect endless vineyards like those in France or Chile, but intimate vineyards where the bottles are crafted with love and courage. For nature lovers, Amboró National Park a black. The hike Andes Code takes you through valleys that look like they're straight out of a postcard. The kind of views that will stay with you for weeks. Take a moment to stop, breathe deeply, and don't forget to take a photo of the impressive green mountains and valleys. The park is large and diverse, perfect for a day (or more) in nature.

Another natural phenomenon not to be missed: the giant fernsLarge, green, and almost prehistoric. Perfect for a short walk or photo opportunity. Seriously, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time.

For those who want to take in a piece of history, there is Samaipata Fort (also known as 'El Fuerte'). The ancient ruins are impressive, but let's be honest: the village and the surrounding nature do most of the work for the charm.
