Anyone who thought Limburg had no beach is wrong: at the beach pavilion Sunset Lounge Beach Club at the Roermondse Maasplassen you will find an exotic lounge terrace, beach and beach pavilion. And that in one place. After a wonderful day of sailing on the Maasplassen, you can relax here on the terrace. On one of the many lounge beds. Sunset, add a bubble and the picture is complete.

Time for more action during these hot summer days? Then travel to Roermond, where the largest water sports area in the Netherlands is located. Here, at it wakepark, you can water ski or wakeboard. You can reserve for one hour, two hours or – be crazy – the whole day: material included. Finish off on the floating terrace of Moby Dick, located right in front of the park, for fresh pasta, cocktails or a drink.

Fancy a nice, 'old-fashioned' and nostalgic playground with the kids this summer? Then go to Little Switzerland. Hidden in the wooded hilly landscape of North Limburg, this play park has been here for more than 80 years. Nostalgia everywhere. What you can expect here: building tree houses, storming the Roman fort, playing mini golf and especially sneaking and crawling through all kinds of tunnels and narrow paths with hiding places everywhere. Nice, we think. You don't get more of a play park than this. It almost makes you feel like a child again. On warm days you can spend time here in the forest or in the outdoor swimming pool, which is also very suitable for smaller children. Water fun guaranteed. Plant yourself on a picnic blanket on the Alpine meadow next to the pool, enjoy the sun and voilà: nothing more to do. You certainly won't be bored here, in this green paradise.

Festival on the waterfront? DThis is exactly what you think: a festival on the water - in this case the Maas - so that you can have some form of cooling and still have a dance this summer. By July 29 to 21 & August 3 to 7 you can go to Venlo for a varied program: from sultry programmed summer evenings (think Latin and Dancehall) to artists such as Meau and cabaret by Guido Weijers. The kiddos have also been taken into account, with theater performances. In short: something for everyone. What is a key ingredient for a wonderful afternoon or evening on the waterfront? A snack and drink of course, so don't forget to check out those food trucks with a varied offering. Let go of your hips and gogogo!

You say Maastricht & ice, then every Maastricht resident will shout: Gelateria Luna Rossa. Traditional Italian ice cream, for when you are not going on holiday to Italy but still long for Italian ice cream, is made here. The ice cream is delicious, there is a long queue, so be prepared for this if you want to get an ice cream here on a summer evening. Be warned about the stress of choice you will experience. Or just go back again. Of course that's also possible. Psst.: there are two of these ice cream shops in Maastricht, in the trendy Wyck & the other is in the heart of the city center near the city park. We know from reliable sources that it is often less busy at the first place.
