Wine tours, wine tasting and wine bathing in a real wine bath in beautiful Limburg

When you say Dutch wine, you say Limburg. Right? Especially if it is up to the Limburgers themselves: they have the most beautiful vineyards among the rolling landscape and when the sun shines, it is the best of the South of France in their own country. Wine lover on the other end of the line? Then you're in the right place. Forget a wine route through France or Italy; Limburg is the place to be. And not just for a route past the most beautiful vineyards or for an extensive tasting. No, a real wine outing is ideal these days Thermae 2000 in Valkenburg, where you can recently enjoy a wine bath - yes, a wine bath - can take. To get the rest of your mini-trip (or holiday) off to a rested start. This is how you do wine tours, wine tasting and wine bathing in a real wine bath in beautiful Limburg:

First things first: book one or two nights at the well-known (and to our knowledge still the most complete, most impressive spa in the Netherlands) Thermae 2000 in Valkenburg, Limburg. Done? Top. Then make sure you have the vinotherapy (and of course you also have access to the gigantic spa with all its saunas and swimming pools over different levels in the rolling landscape of the South of the Netherlands). Spend an hour in the outdoor pool of your dreams. It works like this: since April 2022 you can literally immerse yourself in wine, enjoying the beautiful hilly country with a glass of (very good) wine (from Limburg soil) in your hand. Now that's what we call unique wellness experience. The idea is a plan of St. Martinus wine estate (go there too! A real treat) and Thermae 2000.

You start you wellness session under the outdoor shower with a very good, natural scrub (we have never been softer after a scrub, great tip to get this for home as well, but that's besides the point). And then dive (well, that is sort of speaking: it's better to just get in) in a wooden outdoor tub that is filled with warm water and wine pulp from the Monarch grape, which remains after pressing. That is not only sustainable (no waste), but also healthy! The wine pulp of the blue grape contains remnants of resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin against pollution and the negative effects of UV radiation. Ha! In addition, this substance has a skin-firming and wrinkle-reducing effect. Nothing but a win-win. And we are in, you understand. A little more about St. Martinus: the vineyard uses the white wine pulp for grappas and the red pulp is processed into compost in the vineyard, and now they also contribute to this way of relaxing. What you can also do very well at St. Martinus itself: a very nice vineyard for a drink, lunch or tasting. Don't forget to take the 'Olivier' home with you in the wine shop. A really delicious wine.

And now that you have booked one or two nights at the Thermae 2000 hotel (which is recommended), please know that you do not have to go to the (really very nice) Valkenburg for a delicious meal. No, it is much better not to leave the house and make a reservation at Restaurant Pure. The (female) chef here, Reshma Simons, cooks the most delicious dishes with an Asian and Surinamese twist. These dishes come in five or seven (three or four is also possible, but we wouldn't do that = missed opportunity much) courses over the table while looking out over the Cauberg. Again: no idea why you would go out when life gives you Thermae 2000 in Valkenburg. We were especially impressed by the Carrot Tarator, the Sea Bass and the delicious wines.
